...Well, this all depends on the kind of club you go to, doesn’t it. Knowing nothing of the dance/pop scene, I cannot write about club anthems as it is implied. Also, I don’t like the word ‘anthem’. So here is my ‘rock club anthems’, a collection of some of the better songs you are guaranteed to hear at a rock club. These aren’t necessarily my favourite songs but they are pretty good. Fear Factory – Lynchpin This is actually a superb song. With double speed kick drumming, great beat and superb guitars this is a truly great electro metal song. Will fill the dance floor with true metalheads playing air-guitar and head banging. “You can’t take me apart”. Advantages: Gripping stuff

...it all. Namely, it is the examination of a man who has allowed himself to become sucked into the minutiae of his corporate job. He further exacerbates his spiral of paranoia by turning to other corporate gimmicks for solutions, and treating them like a religion. He is Edward Norton and Fight Club is his desperate reaction. And unfortunately for those who disapprove, the self-deprecating humour and visual style has a hook for a generation that is increasingly cynical about corporate entertainment geared to sell them a complete lifestyle. ...CHICAGO ROCK CAFÉ - SWANSEA There's a little club in the town near me and I won't go anywhere else! A lot of people will disagree with my opinion, but to me this venue offers so much. I have been going to this club regularly since it first opened 5 years ago. I have eaten food there, seen many great tribute bands on stage, watched live sporting events, sat quietly with a group of friends and watched soaps on the big screen, and most importantly, I've danced the night away many times. #A BRIEF HISTORY Chicago Rock Café came to Swansea just at the end of the year 2000. It is a venue that opens early during the day time and serves food while a jukebox plays quietly or a film is shown on the screen. If you are going to an event at this club check first whether it is being held in The Rig or Rock City, and if you are trying to enter Rock City and want to use The Rig entrance because there is a smaller queue check first that it is being used as an entrance for the event you are going to, otherwise you could be planning to go to the student night held in Rock City and find yourself in the Goth night in The Rig! The Nights: ~~~~~ Thursdays are a student night in Rock City, and not a lot to do with rock! I have never been as this is not my cup of tea, however I am told that they play a range of music, mainly ‘cheesy’ pop songs from the past few decades, and that drinks are cheap. Advantages: 3 rooms to choose from each playing different styles of rock music. Bands playing live as well.
Disadvantages: Can get VERY busy, beer some nights is a little pricey

...Rock city is touted as being the best rock club in the north by many popular rock magazines, so me and some friends travelled down from Sheffield to check out this venue. At first it was a little difficult to locate. Rock city is tucked away in a back street. Thankfully when we went into the scream pub round the corner, all we had to do was follow the horde of goths and skaters off to the venue. After queing for about 15 mins we eventually got into the place. We stuck our jackets in the cloakroom and took the chance to explore whilst it still wasn't too busy. I had heard mixed reports, some people say the place is smallish, others say too big espeically when busy. The club has the rig located downstairs, which plays old school rock and metal. Advantages: Funky, danceable, fun and experimental
Disadvantages: Not to everyone's tastes

...includes a cover of the Drifter’s classic ‘Under The Boardwalk’. The song was much maligned by critics who found it hard to reconcile a band who had experimented so wildly on their album with what they saw as a pretty lightweight, insipid cover. The song isn’t bad, but it is rather trite and sits uncomfortably next to the more esoteric work on the album. However, it does fit in with the beach-party vibe of a lot of the album, and after all, the Tom Tom Club manifesto from the beginning was to create an essentially poppy record you could dance to. From the doodling that is the cover (and inside cover) to the trippy electro-dance-rock on the record, you know that this is not a stern, serious album but instead something lightweight and inconsequential. ...Now what is Nottingham famous for? No, no, not just that bloke in green tights who just ran around poking evil nobles! It also looks like it was famous for some lace stuff, but I didn't notice that either! Nope, 'tis Nottingham Rock City, lauded amongst rock fans, almost whispered of in revered tones by those who haven't been there, almost mystical in its existence. Nottingham Rock City fast become the Mecca of rock fans everywhere, if you hadn't been there, you just hadn't lived, it had to be the one place to go. So I did! .... "Red's Club" - This is the story of Red Fraggle who starts a club of people who want to help each other. She befriends a Doozer which are a tiny little working / builder type green characters that feature in Fraggle Rock. While all the fraggles turn their backs on her, its then upto to Red to help all of them out from trouble with Gords. The tunes are catchy and help children learn different scales and numbers.
