Roses are red..and blue and yellow and pink...
Review of Roses by
micksheff
Advantages: Beautiful Looking Flowers, Fragrant, Easy To Grow
Disadvantages: Lots of Pests And Diseases
..., Climbing Roses, Rambling Roses, Wild Roses and Miniature Roses.
These days Roses are planted for many different reasons often simply for their aesthetic or fragrant properties but climbing varieties can also be used to cover garden fences or to add colour to Hedgerows.
All Roses belong to the genus Rosa, but there are well over a hundred species of Wild Roses, these all originate from the Northern Hemisphere and they are mostly from temperate regions. Roses are characteristically prickly shrubs or climbers, but some varieties are also trailing plants, reaching between two and five metres tall.
The leaves are generally fairly short, five to fifteen centimetres long in length and rounded in shape. The undersides of these leaves are usually covered in tiny prickles. The flower that a Rose produces has five Petals with each Petal being divided...

Lip and Cheek stain with a scent of rose petals
Review of BeneFit Benetint by
Topshopper85
Advantages: Looks great, brightens anyones complexion
Disadvantages: Expensive
...I am a huge fan of Benetint - Its a poduct that can be used on both your cheeks and your lips making it a great buy for your make up collection. Benetint is applied with the brush which comes with it making it easy to apply. This stain has a scent of rose petals so it smells and feels great, it gives you a great healthy glow on your cheeks and gives your lips a touch of colour. The colour in the bottle can be quite scary as it looks quite dark, however dont be put off as it blends to a lovely rosey glow and would suit any complexion. I have had Benetint for about a year now and i still have some left and still love it as much as the day i bought it!...

The British Beauty
Review of English Rose by
Kram_Eniarrol
Advantages: Beautiful flowers
Disadvantages: Hard to grow - i think, based on the amount of work my Granny puts in!
...The English Rose could be described as the british beauty. It comes in a whole range of colours although the most common is red and it's fragrance is clear and sweet. The flower has a very defined shape and is often seen as representational of love.
COLOUR RANGE, SCENT & ROBUSTNESS:
Red is the most common as for-said. This red has alot of intensity, and is almost a blood red. As deep as the colour is, so is its sweet fragrence and its symbolic representation of love.
The next colour we could discuss is not so common: pink petals with a yellow interior. These roses are very delicate and are not as robust as the red rose. The shape is not so well defined either, nor the scent so clear and precious, but this is a softer and in some ways more beautiful rose and you can make a gentler statement by giving these.
The most rare, but most...

Just loose your tears
Review of Everything that starts with L ... by
anxiety
Advantages: N/A
Disadvantages: N/A
...Another poem,
Have sympathy with me, i was upset when i wrote it, it is a method of coping that i have, and i actually quite like it!! LOL, anyways, read on...
JUST LOOSE YOUR TEARS
When a petal drops off a rose,
It falls, settles, dies,
When a tear rolls down your cheek,
Your soul is escaping, it flies
Emotion is the hardest thing to let loose,
It’s just easier to keep it in,
A rose sheds a petal, no backward glance,
A tear leaves its mark on your skin
A rose would not glance at another,
If a small petal fell, it’s been shed,
But if you see someone you know very well
Cry, your own heart reaches for them instead.
When the blood from a wound bubbles bright,
Like a rose bud that blossoms, is strong,
The emotions that are freed, are nothing as like,
The words that you still from your tongue.
Let out all your anger, let loose all...

Beautiful tiny tight rose like petals
Review of Rock Rose by
anjib
Advantages: easy to grow in most places, cheap and pretty
Disadvantages: none really
...I love Rock Roses as it is one of the first alpine plants that I ever bought (and is still alive) which is a miracle for me.
I choose Rock Rose as it is one of my favourites, easily available in garden centres/nurseries and like most alpines cost about £1.45 each.
The Rock roses that I have in my rockery have quite long twiggy stems that grow upright and then bend over. In the spring the leaves on mine go paler but brighter and the little buds appear and the flower gradually start to appear. I have a bright magenta and a pale creamy yellow. I can't tell you the proper species name, I just know them as rock roses.
They grow in quite shady places, like between stones, cracks, crevices, but will tolerate quite a lot of sun. These plants are quite thirsty in the summer too, so water well. They don't particularly smell, but stand...

You never know, you might enjoy it
Review of Poetry by
Emma1973
Advantages: From the heart
Disadvantages: Can there ever be any in writing?
...Poetry...the ability to write so much or so few, yet still evoke emotions that go deep into the soul.
It can make us laugh or cry, or just touch on things that we thought we had forgotten. It can evoke memories, good and bad, it can help us remember the smell of the sea, the touch of a loved one and much much more.
I hope you will indulge me in the following few poems, and give honest opinions about them. Please enjoy.
I SHOULD LIKE TO PAINT
I should like to paint an utter of a dolphin song.
I should like to take home the cry of a hawk.
I should like to smell the blue sky.
I would like to taste the fluffy clouds.
I would like to hear the mist of the countryside.
I would like to see peace, not war.
ROSE
Blood Red-Those colours of the petals. To show love, yet, I remember the day, when, the thorns on the rose pricked my finger...

Roses are Red....
Review of Roses by
SnowiestElf
Advantages: Beautiful flowers, wonderful variety
Disadvantages: Take a lot of care
...of trying to combine too many plants with brilliant colours. For example, bright vermillion with cerise pink, may create a discordant effect. In my opinion, the best way to plant roses is by planting white, or paler coloured roses in amongst those with brighter colours to tone them down a bit and prevent the colours from clashing.
FLOWER SHAPES
The massive amount of diversity within the rose family, means that there is also a great variety in the forms of flower. These range from simple, single flowers like those found on species roses, elegant furled blooms which are to be found on the modern roses, all the way up to the cabbage-like complexity of many old rose flowers. All rose flowers may be single (4 - 7 petals), semi-double (8 - 14 petals), double (15 - 20 petals or fully double (over 30 petals. There are eight main types of flower shape...

CHRISTMAS ROSES
Review of Stories with a twist in the tail by
Janej47
Advantages: It's seasonal !
Disadvantages: it's not particularly cheerful !
...Black roses for my faithless love who left on Christmas Day
No word , no time , no warning sign , he simply turned away
I'd waited in the morning with my love-struck eyes aglow
And never thought on Christmas Eve my love would treat me so
Red roses he had given me a few short hours before
I'd placed the scented scarlet blooms beside the bedroom door
Imagined my love smiling as he offered me a ring
So unprepared for misery that Christmas Day would bring
I took the roses one by one and tore their petals bright
And dropped them on the staircase as I left the house that night
Glowing in the blue-white haze of snow through moonlit bay
I left their trail behind me as I went upon my way
White roses , Winter roses , petals dropping to the floor
Shedding snowy heads as my love opened up the door
And softly then I cleaved to him and offered my...

Perhaps too herbal... but try
Review of Lush Herbalism Facial Cleanser by
flisshide
Advantages: Works very well indeed. Doesn't dry
Disadvantages: Lord it's ugly. And a bit of a faff.
...I have become a recent convert to Lush, having come to them after having spent the summer with red itchy irritated skin. The two things you can say about all Lush products is that they don't tend to irritate and they do tend to work.
This doesn't come without a price (two kinds of prices, actually) - they're quite expensive and YOU have to work yourself. "Ease of use" is not one of Herbalism's selling points.
You buy Herbalism by weight - it's about £4 per 100 grams. Start with a small pot, as it lasts ages.
What's it look like? Dried out pond slime, actually. It's a dark green dryish paste with brownish bits it it - these are rose petals and you can smell them, b | | |
