Hotel Sully St Germain
Review of Sully Saint Germain, Paris by
tinabee
Advantages: Location, price, atmosphere
Disadvantages: None
...Very comfortable and tastefully decorated rooms with exposed stone walls and tapestries.
Great price out of high season and a wonderful position. There is a cafe/bar just across the street for breakfast. (I would never take breakfast in a Paris hotel, they are often over-priced and questionable quality.)
Easy walking distance to the bars and restaurants of the Left Bank, also Notre Dame, the Sorbonne, Jardin du Luxembourg and the Marais.
Maubert Mutualité Metro station only 50 metres away for easy access to all other Paris attractions, although the road up to the hotel is quite steep if you are carrying heavy luggage.
For local interest, there is a lively street market in Place Maubert and the local shops are a delight of colours and tastes.
A super location for exploring the history of Paris as well as sipping an aperitif...

A Moveable Feast
Review of Paris in general by
From_The_Continent
Advantages: perfect city to be inspired by architecture, culture, shopping and fine cuisine
Disadvantages: just too many tourists, hope this review wont bring too many extra ones
...Writing a review of Paris requires a special approach. I would assume that 90% of Ciao readers have already been there, seen all the sights and read endlessly about it. Thus I will offer a new look at Paris: a literary review.
Paris has always been home and inspiration to famous and not so famous intellectuals, artists and writers:
Victor Hugo made Notre Dame his second home and the scene for his works. Honoré de Balzac wrote his Comédie Humaine in his sophisticated quarters at Place Vendôme. Existentialists Jean-Paul Sartre, Albert Camus and Simone de Beauvoir took their coffee at the café Les Deux Magots on Boulevard Saint Germain. Françoise Sagan took her last breath in her apartment on the Seine. And Georges Simenon's famous character, Inspector Maigret, investigated murders around Place Clichy.
In the 1920s, the cream...

Small, but perfectly formed boutique hotel
Review of La Villa Saint-Germain, Paris by
leemrphy
Advantages: Good location
Disadvantages: Tiny baths!
...Just back from 4 great nights in Paris at La Villa hotel. The location is fantastic - only a short walk away from loads of exciting restaurants and cafe-bars in the happening Latin Quarter. Try out Le Pres Aux Clercs next door (Hemingway's old haunt apparently, he used to live close by) - the food is fairly expensive but very good and the massive tree in the middle of the dining room is amazing!
The hotel itself is on a quiet street in the heart of St Germain, plus all the rooms have shutters, which help to keep the noise to a minimum at night.
The reception staff at La Villa are generally very helpful and the rooms are clean and well-decorated/furnished. Each room is equipped with a minibar, complimentary toiletries, robes and hairdryer. My only complaint is that the baths are very small (I could not lie down in ours, and I am only 5...

Well presented hotel in a great area of Paris
Review of Artus Hotel, Paris by
street600
Advantages: location is perfect, clean and well decorated room, great shower room
Disadvantages: no bath in classic double room, breakfast not included
...I have just stayed in the Artus hotel on my first to Paris and was really impressed with it. It was difficult knowing which area to stay in but was totally pleased with our decision to stay here. The Artus is in the Saint Germain area of Paris which is on the left bank of the River Seine and adjacent to the Latin Quarter. The hotel is ideally placed as it is central to the main places that you would want to visit in Paris (Arc de Triumphe, Eiffle Tower, Louvre, Notre Dame Cathedral etc) The Rue de Buci, the road the Artus is on a great little street it's bustling with cafes bars and restaurants and there are some great independant shops and art galleries here and on the adjacent streets. The nearest underground Metro stop is barely 3 mins walk away (Mabillion) or 5 mins walk will take you to St Germain des Pres Metro stop which...

Position: Midfielder

Paris St Germain 1999 -2001
He began his career at Montpellier in 1994 before moving to Paris St Germain in 1999.
Robert's goal scoring abilities were shown during his final season at PSG - he scored 15 goals in 26 games!
He prefers playing as a left winger and is at his best there. He can play as a striker but only in a emergency like when Hadji was at Coventry and he played a couple of times as a striker. He is better on his left foot but can...

swift mover-in mroe than 1 way!
Review of Nicolas Anelka by
steveymacca
Advantages:
Disadvantages:
...this extremely young player has moved around faster than i have seen a player move for quite a long time-both on and off the pitch! he has great pace and acceleration when he is playing and seems to move from club to club pretty quickly too, after moving from paris st. germain,to arsenal, to real madrid and then back to paris st.germain again-all for substanstial amounts of cash each time. he looks like an excellent prospect for the french future if he can stay worry and injury free-just ask his three brothers!...

I'll always have PARIS
Review of Yves Saint Laurent Paris Eau de Toilette Spray by
MAFARRIMOND
Advantages: Feminine floral perfume

Review of Basilique Saint-Denis, Paris by
lewiscrofts
Advantages: none
Disadvantages: pigeons
...i do not recommend anyone to go here. yes the place houses a monument which is important for the history of french nationalism, but it is in a horribel part of town. the monument comes at the end of the boulevard saint-denis which to the rest of us is where by day all the trendy clothes shops are and by night ll the prodtitutes hang otu. it is an interesting area, and perhpas one that deserves to be seen to give a balanced view of paris, but it is less than pleasant. furhtermore the monument itself is plagued by mangy pigeons. there are so many other things in paris which are deserving of your attention - you can safely leave this one be....

Effortless Parisian Relaxation
Review of Hotel Saint Paul Rive Gauche, Paris by
blackpuddinonnabike
Advantages: Hotel Cat; Location; Comfort; Friendliness
Disadvantages: No view
...Despite living in France for a year, and visiting on numerous occasions I'd never actually been to Paris before. So for a first visit I really wanted the hotel to live up to the promise of the city - and the Hotel Saint Paul Rive Gauche certainly did that.
Right from the welcome at reception we knew things would be relaxed here. The hotel cat, Sputnik, lounging on the reception desk summed up the feel. If anything my only gripe came at this point, and it was nothing to do with the cat (who was fantastic, though I do recognise not everyone would be so happy to see a moggy at reception), but rather that the receptionist spoke to us in English when I was speaking in French. Really a very minor complaint when her English was so good, and it's a common trait in the big French cities and not really worth getting worked up about.

Au bonheur des Dames
Review of Le Bon Marché (Shop) by
Sigisbert
Advantages: architecture, history, location
Disadvantages: May be prices
...”.
But Boucicaut does not only have trading ideas he also is a precursor in the social plan. He offers to his employees a society canteen, a free medical service, his store is closed on every Sunday and he propose them a retirement fund. Thanks to all this Aristide is now nicknamed “ Le juste” (The Just).
Finally Boucicaut made his store become a great place of culture by opening a library by offering music lessons to his employees and also by diffusing unknown musicians.
Moreover the historic interest of this store this is certainly a place that you need to visit during a stay in Paris as Harrods is for London.
You may not buy many things in here but the architecture and the beauty of this place really deserve a quick look after this you may enjoy a walk down the rue de Rennes that is located close from the store. This street will lead you to Saint-Germain...
