Sapphire RADEON 9600 Atlantis Pro 256MB
Review of Sapphire RADEON 9600 Atlantis Pro by
KnowledgeBase
Advantages: Great Value, Relaible
Disadvantages: No as good as 9800 series
...I wanted to buy a video card that could handle cames such as Call of Duty and NFSU2 easily with a bit to spare. I didn't want to break the bank, and although I was tempted by the 9800 series I opted to go for a sapphire 9600 pro(256mb). I must emphasize the importance of purchasing a pro model as opposed to a standard 9600. Although the pro is not as good as the xt, the price increase from the standard 9600 was minimal(a mere 2 pounds in my case!), so the performance upgrade was well worth the bit extra. I was constrained by the fact that I didn't have a pci express port only an agp, but I have been assured that I do not lose out by buying agp compatable technology at this stage. It is recommended to use this card with an 8x agp slot but using a 4x is fine.
The all important core clock speed of the 9600 pro is 400mhz, compared...

Radeon Power All The Way
Review of Sapphire RADEON 9800SE Atlantis by
Teach2301
Advantages: Superb graphics at no loss in frame rate
Disadvantages: Installation of drivers not recognised
...After trawling the net for suitable PC's - I decided to build my own one with the help of a friend - well he built it and I paid (and watched and helped a little!).
The Radeon 9800SE Atlantis was first for choice based on its cost and the quality of graphics and frame rate.
The installation process. Once we had assembled the motherboard, processor, heat sink and drives, the Radeon 9800SE Atlantis just slotted in and connected to the power cables very easily and that is that. No fiddly bits or straining to cram the wires in - having a large volume case does help though.
(I would recommend that you use the anti-static envelops when replacing a graphics card - don't let your old one lie around because you may have to replace your new card if it doesn't work - not that Radeon cards don't breakdown but as a safety precaution...

The girlfriend want's a sapphire? Don't buy this
Review of Sapphire RADEON 9800SE Atlantis by
china_wolf
Advantages: It's got a fan, and a heatsink, and it's red, and it's fast, and it's cheap
Disadvantages: I've already got a better graphics card, lacks extra features
...was a relatively simple task. Switch off the power from the mains, disconnect the monitor, open up the case, unscrew the screw that's holding the old graphics card down and then remove it. After extraction of the old graphics card, insert the new card and make sure it slides down completely. When you're sure it's in screw the screw back in then, plug the floppy drive power connector into the card, close her up, plug the monitor back in and switch her on. Should boot up no problems!
What's this card again? It's the Sapphire ATI RADEON 9800SE Atlantis graphics card that comes with 128MB of DDR video RAM, AGP 8x, TV-out plugs to connect to a TV or VCR, 1x normal monitor connector and 1x digital monitor connector. Basically anything that has a screen capable of displaying my special movies this graphics card will work on it.
So what the hell does...

Sapphire 9800SE - Cheap gem, or Fool's Gold?
Review of Sapphire RADEON 9800SE Atlantis by
chris_ah1
Advantages: Good solid midrange card that won't let you down with some overclocking potential.
Disadvantages: A little bit too middle range given superior competition for less.
...N.B. www.cahtech.co.uk and cahtech.beigetower.org is MY site. cah and chrisah1 is me. The Powercolor and Sapphire cards actually perform identically within adequate error margins. Bundles are the same. I have changed this review enough to reflect the different product. Thanks to Custom PC magazine, and ATI for making this review possible.
Introduction:
For my first every graphics card review here, I have chosen to focus on Sapphire's 9800SE which is based on the 9800 architecture from ATI. This card is simply another filler product from Sapphire. The 'SE' is a creation of ATI's chip partners who decided that the ATI line was not balanced enough and needed an extra 'midrange' product. This desire to capture the highly lucrative mainstream performance market of graphics cards seems to be quite beneficial to the consumer. From...

The 9200SE, yet another Gem from Sapphire.
Review of Sapphire RADEON 9200SE Atlantis by
Credance100
Advantages: Excellent mid-range card. Compatable with most recent games. Good overclocking capabilities
Disadvantages: None to speak of.
...Last January, after my aged Nvidia TNT2 card finally bit the dust I realized it was time to purchase a new graphics card for my own PC. I'd previously bought and tested out the Radeon 7000 from Sapphire on a different PC, due to the good results I acheived with that model, this card represented a natural progression.
The 9200SE card is by no means a top of the range model, when I purchased it it cost 37 pounds. Upon receiving it promptly through the post I proceeded to install it in the usual manner: Inserting it into one of the Agp slots on the motherboard and fastening the card using the screws supplied.
The motherboard I used it on was a cheap Syntax / PC Chips board equipped with a 4x AGP function. Just likes its lesser counterpart it possesses no manual.
The software supplied was identical to that which came with the 7000...

Cheap but Pretty Good Graphics Card
Review of Sapphire RADEON 9600 Atlantis by
Deru
Advantages: Cheap, Fast graphics, ATI are a trusted graphics chipset maker
Disadvantages: Still just a budget card, 9600 a bit out of date, driver issues
...The review is on my Sapphire Atlantis Radeon 9600 256MB, which I purchased from Ebuyer. It’s a Graphics Card, or Video Card; some might like to call it, which is a computer component, which goes inside a computer and it lets you connect your monitor to your computer so that you can see what you’re doing. Sapphire Technologies is simply a company that uses the ATI chips on their graphics cards. Some computer motherboards have on-board graphics so you don’t even need to buy one these unless you wanted your computer to have more powerful graphics capabilities but my AsusTek P4C800-E Deluxe (see review *wink wink*) doesn’t, so it was necessary to purchase a graphics card.
The Atlantis 9600 is an AGP (Accelerated Graphics Port) graphics card, which is the most common type but there PCI versions available, but they are not as fast...

Sapphire's Radeon 7000...What a gem!
Review of Sapphire RADEON 7000 by
Credance100
Advantages: Fantastic budget card.
Disadvantages: Limited overclocking facilities. Fails to run the latest titles.
...Last December, I was assigned the task of building a low -cost PC for a relative. With only a maximum of 35 pounds to spend on a video card my choice was limited. I finally opted for Sapphire's version of the Ati Radeon 7000 model.
It cost about 28 pounds at the time, and is possibly the finest budget card I've come across. One of its main advantages is its stability, I used a tool called Riva Tuner to overclock it somewhat, the heatsink handled it fine! Sadly though, the overclocking didn't produce any marked improvement, the only benefit being a slight increase of frame rate on Counter-Strike and Medal of Honour: Allied Assualt.
This aside, the card is fantastic for the price. It runs popular games such as Counterstrike (Non-source of course) aswell as any game predating the year 2002. However, it doesn't run more recent...

Quality Graphics, Quality Price
Review of Sapphire RADEON 9600 Atlantis by
Testarossa
Advantages: Quicker & smoother graphics
Disadvantages: Can't think of any
...There is a distinct lack of reviews on graphics cards, so I thought, having recently changed mine that I would write one.
I purchased the ATI Sapphire Atlantis 9600 256MB DDR to replace my G Force 4 MX 440 128MB DDR.
How much does it cost?
I bought this graphics card from scan.co.uk for £67 + vat (11.73) + Carriage (£7) a total of £85.73. Most places are still charging over the £100 mark, so I was thrilled to get this at such a bargain price.
What is it like?
What a difference! There has been a noticeable difference in screen rate, and the quality of the picture is incredible. Pictures load onto the system more quickly, graphics are smoother and quicker, and even web pages seem to load more rapidly. Watching my husband play on Delta Force, it struck me how realistic the graphics are.
It appears to be stable, and hasn...

ATi's Beast, Sapphires best video card to date.
Review of Sapphire RADEON 9800 Atlantis Pro by
RGX_FX
Advantages: Lightning fast, superb image quality
Disadvantages: About to be replaced, runs hot
...this card generates. At stock speeds the heat generated will not damage the card, but if you are planning to overclock (push the card faster than it should go in order to achieve even more performance) then you may want to consider extra cooling.
This card is currently retailing at about £160, a perfectly reasonable price for such a powerful card, but be warned. Both ATi and Nvidia (the two largest graphics card companys) are about to launch brand new hardware, so it may be worth saving your money for a couple of months untill the new generation of cards comes out.
Overall this card is stable, fast, cheap and powerful. It remains to be seen how it will compete with its rival next generation graphics cards over the next few months, but you can be assured of a great quality product if you buy this card. Sapphire now has an enviable...

A good budget card
Review of Sapphire RADEON 9200 Atlantis by
J.Gamgee
Advantages: Value for money
Disadvantages: Slightly misleading amount of memory.
...I recently bought this to replace an old style 64mb Radeon DDR that was later re badged the 7200. The major difference that I noticed is the ability to use higher resolutions at far more acceptable frame rates than before. This is by no means a top of the range card in fact if I were to split all cards into one of three groups this would be in the lower of the three. That is the point however – this is not a high performance card, it was never supposed to be a contender for the fastest card as it was released to satisfy the budget user whilst still providing good performance. Indeed the 9200 is (in common with the 9100) a slightly cut down directX 9.0 version of the 9000.
Realistically this card may begin to struggle with some of the upcoming releases such as Half Life 2 or DOOM III, it will certainly not be able to play them...
