Seat Toledo 1.9 Tdi SE -
Review of Seat Toledo 1.9 Tdi by
caligulase19
Advantages: Economy in Fuel, Insurance and Servicing, while giving executive car feel.
Disadvantages: Many people still regard SEAT marque with some skepticism.
...Having previously owned a new Freelander from Land Rover, and been totally disgusted with just about everything on that vehicle... (it was never out of the workshop being repaired under the warranty)... I thought I would opt for a saloon car once again, and was impressed by the reviews I read about the Toledo.
Obviously with the price differential, I could afford a little luxury, so I ordered my car with just about every extra I could have - from leather seats, to sat-nav and so on. Price came in at £17500 with all this, over £4k less than the freelander. Car was purchased in September 2002.
Now nearly three years on, and I can report that this honestly is about the best car I have ever had!
It returns over 50 mpg, it is comfortable with the electronically adjustable leather seats and the sat-nav is so good, it's a feature I...

1999 T - Seat Toledo 1.9Tdi S
Review of Seat Toledo 1.9 Tdi by

Advantages: Speed, Comfort, Reliaility, Quality, Economy, Features, Looks
Disadvantages: Door seals sometimes need replacing
...I bought my Toledo TDi back in early 2004, it had 38k miles on the clock and was in very good condition. This is her story.....
From the moment I set eyes on her I was impressed, sleek, curvacious and to some extent, sporty looking were my first impressions. I'd never taken any notice of seats before then apart from the Ibiza I learned to drive in so I'd not really looked at buying one. I saw her for sale at a local garage and thought i'd take a closer look. My partner at the time and I were expecting our first child, at the time I was driving a Rover 220SD and although it had 5 doors, it wasn't the roomiest car I'd been in.
So, I climbed in and instantly it struck me. Everything was laid out where you would expect, no silly dials in the centre of the dashboard, no funny looking buttons that had no purpose...

I Love my 2005 Toledo automatic TDi
Review of Seat Toledo 1.9 Tdi by
bettyboouk
Advantages: Fast, reliable, smart looking,
Disadvantages: Tyres/wheels are not the best at gripping the road, power outlet is not in a very good place
...History
We have had our Toledo for 4 months now and upgraded from a 2Ltr petrol Ford Focus. The toledo exceeds all aspects of the focus in both looks, feel and performance. The Toledo is a solidly built car and very robust, you can see at a glance that the safety features are in abundance from the airbags allround to the solid reinforced pillars and high lefel doors.
Reliability/speed
We have found the Toledo to be exceptionally reliable and ready to go when we are. The Toledo is really fast and will get upto speed really fast. Accelaration is fast and makes you sit back as you press the pedal.
Access to the interior
The doors are a bit of a pain but this is also a safety feature. Once you start going the doors automatically lock and so if you stop and want to get out it is not as easy however, it does mean that if you...

Toledo but not quite a tornado
Review of Seat Toledo 2.0 by
tall_andy
Advantages: Heaps of room, a bit different
Disadvantages: Not quite as sporty as it could have been; some might not like its looks
...We have always liked the Seat Altea, and having visited a local dealer we decided that we preferred the Toledo due to the extra boot space - basically the Toledo is identical in every way to the Altea, but with an extended boot. We went for a 12 month old 2.0Fsi model, with 9000 miles on the clock, for £10,500 (bargain).
The back-end of the Toledo might not be to everyone's taste due to the way the boot juts out, but the rest of the car is very good looking, especially the front. The car is very high so there is loads of vertical space inside - I'm 6'6" and still have a few inches above my head, which scrapes the ceiling of most cars. This is NOT an MPV but some places have been quoted as calling it a "mini MPV". The Toledo is built on the same chassis and engine as the Audi A3 and Golf "plus", so reliability isn't a worry...

Comfortable car with good fuel economy
Review of Seat Toledo 1.9 Tdi by
ha5xa
Advantages: Tons of extras, competitive price
Disadvantages: tight boot opening,
...Your opininon on a car usually depends upon what you have previoulsy owned. I have always had smaller, lmuch less equipped cars, with smaller and weaker engines, etc. So for me, the Toledo is a quantum leap.
I have the 110 h.p. 1.9TDi Toledo Signo Business. The car has most of those extras I never thought I would have. Adjustable height front seats, adjustable steering wheel, front and side airbags, front and back seat arm supports, electronic airconditioning, front and rear fog lights, CD player with 8 loudspeakers, electric windows (all managable from driver's seat), etc. As I bought a special "limited edition", mine even has motorized sunroof and cruise control. Good package at a reasonable (does not mean cheap) price in its category.
I bought the car on a Monday morning, and the same day I was on the road towards Spain...

34000 mile review - 2002 car
Review of Seat Toledo 1.9 Tdi by
amonline
Advantages: solid build, excellent economy, abundance of standard features
Disadvantages: unrefined engine sound on startup
...Having owned various diesel cars over the years (Citroen BX, Vauxhall Astra,Ford Escort) I purchase a 19 month old Toledo 1.9 se tdi which had done 34000 miles mainly due to wanting a VW knowing their reliability record and solid build. Knowing that Seat was part of VW I researched the Toledo and was staggered by the results. All the reviews, by both professional writers and private users indicated only minor issus such as the relatively cramped rear seating.
Having traced one via the Internet and finding it was very well priced I test drove it and found it was right up to expectations.
After the initial start up of the engine which is quite unrefined, the engine quickly settles down to a comfortably solid low diesel tick over.
Moving off also is not quite as refined as it could be and the opening to the boot is quite narrow (I...

Toledo, history preserved, hill top heritage
Review of Toledo (Spain) by
Writing321
Advantages: Historic, beautiful scenery, feel good place
Disadvantages: None
...A visit to Toledo is memorable for so many different reasons. Other visitors' reactions are most likely similar to mine - so much history, beautiful to walk through while experiencing how preservation of religion has affected architecture in this magnificent Spanish National Monument.
One day recently I joined thousands of other tourists to stroll through the narrow, steep, cobbled streets to glimpse just a little taste of how Toldeo has evolved since it was Spain's capital from Gothic days to 1560.
From the minute I sighted the main gate - Peurta de Bisgra, a ninth century creation - I knew this visit was going to be all it was promised to be by a dear friend who had been there six years earlier and advised, quite rightly, that it was a must when visiting Madrid, 71 kilometres away.
The focus of my visit...

A pussy cat around town, a tiger on the road
Review of Seat Toledo V5 by
Happymama
Advantages: Blows away the rep-mobile image, has all the toys
Disadvantages: No hatch, no R/W/W and front wheel drive
...drive my Toledo around town a lot. It's easy to park, a doddle to drive and very comfy. I think I've got value for money, I keep my cars for 7+ years, and this one will last. I won't be fed up with it, and it'll still look good. It's very like my neighbours new VW Bora (non-identical twin, you might say) but better looking.
Test drive this car around a road you know, if you can. Take in a couple of roundabouts. Thrash or Waft, it's very capable of both.
I'd have another. Buy, buy buy
BUT: four years down the line: One power steering pump (leak) under warranty, one coil (bad batch) under warranty, one coil not under warranty, one front wheel bearing and - deep breath now - a cam chain, tensioner, sprocket and guide. Very big, very deep, bottom end job, out of warranty, Seat bless them paid 60% anyway but still cost me...

A Fascinating Mixture of Medieval Cultures
Review of Toledo (Spain) by
quan
Advantages: A location rich with statiscal, geographical and historical enironment
Disadvantages: Can be quiet boring and no nightlife
...the seat of its foremost archbishop.
The religious panorama changed when Toledo became a part of the Muslim caliphate. The narrow streets of the old city date from this period, which lasted from the 8th century to the 11th century. Muslim tolerance permitted the co-existence of Christian, Jewish and Moorish cultures in Toledo. Finally, in 1085, King Alfonso VI (a Catholic king) conquered the city. Despite the change of rulership, these cultures continued to exist together for several centuries. But many of Toledo’s most impressive monuments date from the medieval period. Catholic rulers converted the city into their capital, Jewish citizens employed their skills in crafts and commerce, and Muslim artisans contributed their talents in architecture. Scholars of the three different creeds worked together in the School of Translator. During...
