...Hands up who thinks the US Open final will be between the williams sisters? I wouldn't mind a flutter on that! They are dominating the tour at the moment, even though they aren't top-ranked. They've won the past four tournaments between them, and serena looked likely to beat hingis for a fifth till she had to retire through injury. On home soil, and with serena as defending champion, i think they stand a pretty good chance. If they get that far, hopefully it will be more of a contest than their wimbledon semi.... Read review

...Serena Williams, like her sister Venus, is turning the womens game into a game that is dominated by women with powerful shots that devestate their opponents. Still both under 21 years of age, they are currently dominating the game completely and after meeting in the US Open Final this year we must ask just who can stop them. Jennifer Capriati has won two tournaments this year, but still I think Venus and Serena will soon become unstoppable. Serena has been a little bit outshadowed after Venus capturing the Olympic Gold and the Wimbledon & US Open titles two years in a row, but it was Serena who won the Williams sisters' first major title, the US Open afew years back, and Serena has won Wimbledon and Olympic Gold in doubles competition. The serve is already over 100mph and these players could dominate the future of grass tennis. Venus Williams showed this today against Martina Hingis. ...The sisters were in deed a team. It seemed when one was slacking the other was hitting with a power we can not explain. In an interview, one sister said something like it is hard to beat the both of us, because we always seem to know what the other is going to do. And in a 6-3, 7-6, it definitely demonstrated. Being 18 and 20 the sisters have a lot of years left ahead of them, so anyone wanting to get a title had better do a lot of praying first. Because with Venus' forehand side and Serena's groundstoking, they are headed for some trouble. I must say the Williams' sisters found their groove and did not lose it.... Read review

...venus is the older of the two williams sisters by a couple of years and is also the most successful too. she seems to be in form at the moment, winning quite a few titles and tournaments, most notably wimbledon after beating her sister serena in the semi final. it was one of those classic rags to riches storries, where two girls grow up to be successful at a sport and end up playing each other in the semi final of a major international tournament. only this time the story was real!... ...There is only word to describe the Williams sisters victory in the ladies doubles at Wimbledon - awesome! They were superb. Even though they were only seeded eight because they do not play much doubles together they were easily the best pair in the ladies doubles. Both are so strong and athletic that they could dominate ladies doubles for years to come if they decided to play together on a regular basis. In fact they could threaten the title record of Martina Navratilova and Pam Shriver, who I believe won over a hundred titles in a row! Perhaps only injuries can stop the Williams - only time will tell.... Read review

...Yet another teenager on the womens tennis circuit.Does she really have what it takes to get to the very top? Groomed from a very young ages,like her sister, by her father she is a fine tennis player. However, at Wimbledon this year,in the semi final of the singles she lost to her two year older sister Venus who has since gone on to greater heights winning Wimbledon and the US open. Now Serena was meant to be the better tennis player and, on the day, she seriously underperformed. Does this meant that she can't beat her sister or, the more serious point, that her temperament is just not right for the big occasions. (p.s I know she won the US open but it was relatively straightforward that year)... Read review

...After Venus won the ladies singles title, and probably should have now, with Serena, won the ladies doubles (I'm writing this review while it's on TV downstairs!), I'm wondering whether they will end up dominating the game. I feel that they have already been able to change the face of women's tennis with the incredible physique and skill - and if you ask me, it's for the good. I think that women's tennis becoming more associable with men's tennis will only help to promote the sport - making it more exciting, more competitive and bringing it into the limelight - ie. more finance, more fans etc. And I think the Williams' will end the current era of pussy women's tennis and take it into a new powerful stage, and once they become a little older and maturer, and therefore less susceptible to injuries and the after-effects of injuries... ...Maria Sharapova claimed her first grandslam title on the courts of Wimbledon in what was thought to be an electrifying match turned out to be a staggering stragiht set victory for the Russian teenager. With defending champion Serena Williams back in action and hungry for a slam the preassure was on for Maria. She starterd well overpowering Williams and dropping just one game en route to winning the first set. The second started well with both players hitting well but Serena finally claimed the edge by breaking serve and went up 4-2. With the crowd howling, Serna could taste victory but the fiesty Siberian tigress wasn't going to let her oppurtunity of wining a slam slip. After hitting some fantastic winners and serving at 120 mph, Williams was weak and found herself leveled at 4-4. With victory in sight, Sharapova served well... Read review
