...Taormina is a very pretty town on the Eastern coast of Sicily. We took a very slow train journey from Palermo along the North coast, which took the best part of a day, having to change and wait in Messina. When you get to Taormina station you will find yourself at the bottom of the hill so you would need to hire a taxi or wait for a local bus to take you up to the town. The buses didn't seem too predictable but then we were arriving on a Sunday. All other information pointed to the weekday service being somewhat more reliable. However, when you get up into the town you will realise that the journey is well worth it. Taormina is a very pretty historic town. Visit the amphitheatre for fantastic views of Mount Etna. Advantages: beautiful experience, beautiful temples
Disadvantages: the temples are surrounded by hugly houses wich ruin the beauty of the landscape

...Valle dei templi is a must if you go and visit Sicily, it is fanstastic experience and seems you are back in the past in the Greek times. The best time to go is Spring. I would avoid the summer because it could be too hot . you pay a small fee to enter into the temple and the visit can last about 2 hours. To bad you can\"t go inside the temple of Giunone but it worth to go there anyway. during the night the temples are illuminated and it looks like a great show. You could visit the valley but not necesserely spend the night into the city of Agrigento because the seeside and the small seavillages around are much better then the citycenter.... Read review

...Memories of Sicily The island of Sicily lies off the south coast of Italy in the Mediterranean sea. It is famous for its vast coastline, historic landmarks and for homing the biggest volcano in Europe. This was my third visit to Sicily and we were staying in the small coastal town of Taormina. I sat, my head buried in my English book, writing a piece of coursework on 'An Inspector Calls'. I gazed up and cast my eyes over the rails that circled my balcony. I dropped my pen on the table. It slowly rolled off and cluttered through a small gap in the floor of the balcony. The view I was confronted with was staggering. My eyes weaved through the tangled city of chimneys. Their weathered terracotta tops balancing precariously on the tips of the hand made towers. Chimneys tangled up with archways of stone and exotic roof top gardens... Read review

Advantages: An incredible country
Disadvantages: Sicilian drivers!

...Sicily - oh, where to start? The most beautiful and fascinating country I have ever visited - I cannot recommend it highly enough. But that's not going to get me any decent ratings is it? This sentence seems to sum up the way Sicilians feel about the mainland too! Than I returned in England so many times, particularly to London, but also to Oxford. My sister will marry in october an english boy from Bristol. I live in Pavia, near Milan, but I work in Milan. Pavia is a little and quiet city. In this period there is very hot. Ijn August I go to Sicily where I was born in 1965.
