Fantastic city
Review of General: Singapore by Pobs

Advantages: Lots to see and do
Disadvantages: Long way to go

...Singapore is a fantastic city to visit. There is so much to see, do, buy and experience that it can be difficult to fit it all in! The Chinese market is a trip not to miss, particularly at night when all the stalls and surrounding shops are lit up. The range of items to buy here is incredible, and if you’re looking for a tacky present for a ‘loved’ one, this is the place to buy it! One of the organised day trips that I went on whilst in Singapore was a trip that incorporates the Singapore Museum and Raffles Hotel. The Singapore Museum and coach trip around Singapore were okay, but the visit to Raffles Hotel made the whole day worth it. You get a tour of the hotel, which isn’t all that exciting, but you get to experience ‘High Tea’. This is held in one of nicest restaurants I’ve ever been to, and the range of food is amazing, from... Read review

Too expensive
Review of Singapore Airlines - SIA by sailormn

Advantages: Good service + very safe
Disadvantages: Too expensive

...I travelled with SIA twice, from Singapore to London and Singapore to Sabah. Both trips were comfortable and the air stewardess are attentive but somehow I feel that the SIA girls are more attentive towards the caucasians and foreigners rather than towards Singaporeans. The inflight entertainment was very good with various channels to select from. However, my entertainment set was down and I had to spend my time watching other people's screen..not very value for money though. As the flight was fully booked, usually the case for SIA flights, I couldn't get exchange for another seat. Meals are the usual stuff, with two selections to choose from for each meal. Overall, the service was satisfactory, but if the price of the ticket were cheaper, it would be superb.... Read review

Swissotel Merchant Court, Singapore
Review of Swissôtel Merchant Court, Singapore by mickey1949

Advantages: Clean, Friendly and on Doorstep MRT Station
Disadvantages: None

...Whilst this is a large hotel with 476 rooms the staff pay genuine attention to detail with service and helpfulness and nothing is too much trouble for them. Overlooking the banks of the Singapore river and within a stones throw of the heart of Chinatown the Swissotel Merchant Court Hotel Singapore is ideally situated for both the business traveller and tourist alike. With the recently opened MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) station on its doorstep visitors can travel, within a few short minutes, to the business and shopping areas of Singapore. Those who want a more leisurely time can take the MRT to Sentosa Island. Dining opportunities are endless at the Swissotel Merchant Hotel with both local and international cuisine being served. Boat Quay and Clarke Quay are within a few minutes walk of the hotel and here you will find a mix of splendid... Read review

Cheap way to get a stopover
Review of Singapore Airlines - SIA by JamesMoore

Advantages: Only seventeen dollar (Australian)
Disadvantages: More passport control and check-ins

...I recently took a Singapore Airlines flight from London to Sydney (Australia) to visits my friend who is working there for two years. The flight there was the normal long haul affair personnel television and games console, with a change of plane at Singapore (only a two hour wait in the airport) The only down side to this route was both flights were counted as night flights so after sleeping all the way from Heathrow to Singapore they switched off all the lights and tried to get us to sleep again (after my seven hours sleep I was not really tired anymore) but had a seat near the emergency exit with maximum leg room so I was quiet happy. Anyhow it was when I got to Australia and was checking my e-mail that a friend commented that I should have popped into see them while in Singapore (they live in Malaysia, but next to the Malaysia/Singapore... Singapore Sling
Review of General: Singapore by maggieedwa

Advantages: Great People clean and warm
Disadvantages: gotta watch where u smoke

...Well did a week in Singapore a few years ago and loved it I was on my own so I tend to judge a place by how safe i feel. The hotel i stayed in was the Peninsula lovely hotel huge room and very resonable rates booked it on Expedia. I was working unfortunately at the Sun City convention center so did not get to appreciate Singapore by day as much as by night. But it made up for it the atmosphere was amazing. Went to the famous Raffles hotel and that itself is worth doing just remeber to make sure you have plenty of dosh with you drink is very expensive there also ciggarettes. Went to a club called the Velvet underground and it was fun the local clubbers were interesting where we dance with each other they like to dance to their own reflection in the mirror. Takes a bit to get used to the heat but if you watch the people in Singapore... Read review

Strongly recommend!!
Review of Singapore Airlines - SIA by thelmalin

Advantages: Excellent service and in-flight entertainment
Disadvantages:

...I flied Singapore Airline by the end of 1998 for the Taipei-London route. I decided to travel with it because I have been hearing very good comment about this company, and their commercials made it appealing. I received very warm welcome from the staff and attendants. The service they offer is excellent. For the route I have to transfer in Singapore. I received two boarding cards when I checked in in Taipei, which means I don't have to queue for checking in again and I only have to go straight to the gate after arriving Singapore. I saw in the airport (Singapore) that they also offer local tour if you have to spend long time waiting in the airport. The in-flight entertainment is excellent. Travelers have plenty of programs to choose from and each visitor has his own personal screen. You can also play computer games such as Super Mario... Read review

Ranks Among the Best
Review of Singapore Airlines - SIA by ashford

Advantages: Punctual Good Service Modern Fleet
Disadvantages: Not Many

...I have flown numerous times on Singapore Airlines, especially on the shuttle service Kuala Lumpur-Singapore-Kuala Lumpur and less frequently to Pekan Bahru Sumatra,Jakarta, Perth and on various long haul flights to London. This airline is ultra-efficient. Its hub airport Changi International Airport is undeniably one of the finest in the world and the standard of ground service is very good indeed. As for the airline itself it has one of the most modern fleets of any airline. Its engineering and maintenance standards are reputedly excellent.and Singapore has become an important aviation hub. The slogan used to talk of the Singapore Girl and the in flight service of this airline is very good. The cabin crew are well trained, are courteous and hard working, and there is a good ethnic mix with Chinese,Indian,Indonesian and Malay members... Krisflyer Earn your way free flights
Review of Singapore Airlines Krisflyer by atlantis140

Advantages: A great way to earn free flights.
Disadvantages: Takes a while to get to first class!!

...Singapore Airlines Krisflyer is an excellent way to earn yourself a way to free flights wherever you want. Singapore Airlines is a part of the Star Alliance network. Star alliance contains many airlines ranging from bmi, united, lufthansa, thai airlines and many more. By being part of star alliance, miles can be earned and redeemed far easier than ever before. Quite simply you earn one mile for every mile you fly. If travelling in business class you earn an extra 25% of your distance flown and with first class 50% of your distance flown. Miles can be earned in many places. You can earn them by travelling on any flight which is part of the star alliance network, Singapore Airlines flights. Any of Singapore Airlines flight partners (Silk Air, Virgin Atlantic and Emirates). Miles can also be earned through staying in a wide variety... Read review

Singapore Changi-Up at the Top
Review of Singapore - Chang (SIN) by ashford

Advantages: Large,spacious,ultra-modern,and efficiently operated airport.
Disadvantages: Difficult to find any

...Singapore Changi International Airport is a perfect entry point to Singapore, the "Mighty Midget" at the heart of South East Asia. This remarkably efficient airport, once a Japanese prisoner-of-war camp,is a huge,glistening,state-of-the-art airtropolis that pilots, passengers and crtics all rave about. It is regularly voted by international organisations and magazines to be among the best in the world. There is no doubt that is a very well equipped airport. The terminals are large, have plenty of seating, and offer a wonderful shopping experience. there are a lot of catering outlets serving up snacks, fast food and more elabourate meals. The transit desks are strategically located and the signage very good. For smokers there is a smoker's lounge where they can enjoy a puff-although it is forbidden to smoke in the rest of the airport... Read review

Local Airlines Flies High
Review of Royal Brunei Airlines by josephchan

Advantages: Cheap cost
Disadvantages: Entertainment facilities could be better

...Royal Brunei Airlines is really a little local airline serving the country of Brunei but with an ever expanding global service. The Brunei - Dubai - London route must be one of its most popular international route with departures once every day of the week. In addition to that it is also one of the cheapest of its kind of flight to the region compared to Singapore Airlines, Malaysian Airlines, Thai Airlines and British Airways. Moreover en route to Brunei, passengers have the opportunity to transit in Singapore (and maybe to Malaysia from Singapore). The on-flight and ground crew service is second to none. However on the down side, having been flying RBA for six years now, I have noticed that the facilities on board, including seat covers and movie projection-style entertainment hasn't changed at all. Unlike Singapore Airlines... Read review
