Reviews of singapore hotels singapore
Fantastic city
Review of General: Singapore by
Pobs
Advantages: Lots to see and do
Disadvantages: Long way to go
...Singapore is a fantastic city to visit. There is so much to see, do, buy and experience that it can be difficult to fit it all in!
The Chinese market is a trip not to miss, particularly at night when all the stalls and surrounding shops are lit up. The range of items to buy here is incredible, and if you’re looking for a tacky present for a ‘loved’ one, this is the place to buy it!
One of the organised day trips that I went on whilst in Singapore was a trip that incorporates the Singapore Museum and Raffles Hotel. The Singapore Museum and coach trip around Singapore were okay, but the visit to Raffles Hotel made the whole day worth it. You get a tour of the hotel, which isn’t all that exciting, but you get to experience ‘High Tea’. This is held in one of nicest restaurants I’ve ever been to, and the range of food is amazing, from...

Swissotel Merchant Court, Singapore
Review of Swissôtel Merchant Court, Singapore by
mickey1949
Advantages: Clean, Friendly and on Doorstep MRT Station
Disadvantages: None
...Whilst this is a large hotel with 476 rooms the staff pay genuine attention to detail with service and helpfulness and nothing is too much trouble for them.
Overlooking the banks of the Singapore river and within a stones throw of the heart of Chinatown the Swissotel Merchant Court Hotel Singapore is ideally situated for both the business traveller and tourist alike. With the recently opened MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) station on its doorstep visitors can travel, within a few short minutes, to the business and shopping areas of Singapore. Those who want a more leisurely time can take the MRT to Sentosa Island.
Dining opportunities are endless at the Swissotel Merchant Hotel with both local and international cuisine being served. Boat Quay and Clarke Quay are within a few minutes walk of the hotel and here you will find a mix of splendid...

Singapore Sling
Review of General: Singapore by
maggieedwa
Advantages: Great People clean and warm
Disadvantages: gotta watch where u smoke
...Well did a week in Singapore a few years ago and loved it I was on my own so I tend to judge a place by how safe i feel.
The hotel i stayed in was the Peninsula lovely hotel huge room and very resonable rates booked it on Expedia.
I was working unfortunately at the Sun City convention center so did not get to appreciate Singapore by day as much as by night.
But it made up for it the atmosphere was amazing.
Went to the famous Raffles hotel and that itself is worth doing just remeber to make sure you have plenty of dosh with you drink is very expensive there also ciggarettes.
Went to a club called the Velvet underground and it was fun the local clubbers were interesting where we dance with each other they like to dance to their own reflection in the mirror.
Takes a bit to get used to the heat but if you watch the people in Singapore...

My favourite Singapore hotel
Review of Holiday Inn Park View, Singapore by
VC81
Advantages: Unrivalled location, great facities, wonderful breakfasts
Disadvantages: View of the freeway from some of the rooms
...Of all the hotels I have stayed in in Sing, this is definitely my favourite. It's all the flash, marbled, gilted, chanderliered swankiness you can desire, with great facilities, service and efficiency, as only Singapore can do.
The rooms are well appointed and very clean, with your typical Holiday Inn double beds and choice of pillow firmness, TV, trouser press, tea and coffee etc., and also internet connections, bathrobes, disposable slippers and safes. The large marble bathrooms come complete with a phone for those calls that just can't wait.
One of my favourite features in this hotel is the roof pool. These are common in most Singapore hotels, but this one is a huge, overflowing marble affair, with foliage around the walls, the odd gecko, and is beautifully lit for night swimming, when the temperature is perfect. There is a large...

Krisflyer Earn your way free flights
Review of Singapore Airlines Krisflyer by
atlantis140
Advantages: A great way to earn free flights.
Disadvantages: Takes a while to get to first class!!
...of hotels including Hilton and Marriot and many more. Miles can be earned through using the Singapore Airlines duty free shop ‘Kris Shop’ where you can purchase goods on-board or via their mail order service. Miles can be earned by Singapore Airlines credit cards and by taking out financial products with Citibank and Sun Alliance if you live within the republic of Singapore. Even for non-singaporeans there are plenty of ways to earn miles.
Once you have earned the miles what can you do with them?
Well you can use them towards any free flight with SIngapore Airlines or their direct partners or you can purchase flights on the Star Alliance network. You can book single trips or round trips, companion trips ie ‘Buy 1 get 1 free’ or even use them towards upgrades on tickets you have purchased. ‘Economy -----> Raffles Class, Raffles Class...

Hip Hotel in Singapore
Review of Fullerton Hotel, Singapore by
Erzulie
Advantages: Good Location
Disadvantages: Overrated
...Fullerton is the latest addition to the luxury hotels in the city and even Martine McCutcheon stayed in Fullerton Hotel last time when she was in Singapore!
The Fullerton Building was built in 1928 and has housed the General Post Office, the Exchange, The Chamber of Commerce and The Singapore Club. The most recent occupants were the Singapore Post, the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore, and a branch of the POSBank.
The Fullerton Hotel enjoys a fabulous location right in front of the Merlion. It is also very close to The Esplanade, the newly opened music and theatre venue. There is an underpass from Fullerton Hotel to One Fullerton which has restaurants and nightclubs.
There are five resutaurants in the hotel. The Courtyard, Lighthouse , Town, The Post Bar and Jade.THe Courtyard is the lobby lounge and the Lighthouse restaurant has...

Best Airline Ever!!!
Review of Singapore Airlines - SIA by
rich_lufc
Advantages: Friendly Service, Great Food, Loads of Entertainment
Disadvantages: None!!!
...came out of the right arm wrest, on one side was a channel selector, and on the other was a SNES controller! From the remote control, I could choose to watch one of hundreds of movies, listen to music, play one of around 25 SNES games or watch the aircrafts progress around the world via satellite.
When it was time to eat, I was presented with some superb food, I can't remember what it was but I can remember that I enjoyed it a lot!
The toilets were very spacious and clean and were well stocked with toilet paper and soap.
The stewardesses were very well presented and were always smiling. They were very comforting during the flight and would 'patrol' up and down the aisles asking politely if anyone requires assistance or a drink ect...
When we arrived in Singapore we enjoyed a two day stop over in a hotel called something like the Marina...

Kuala Lumpur - Singapore train experience
Review of General: Malaysia by
dance
Advantages: Cheap, comfortable and safe !
Disadvantages: Old coaches
...are required to bring all belongings into the immigration building for Singapore immigration. Passengers for Singapore can alight here or board the train once again to continue the journey to Tanjung Pagar station.
Tanjong Pagar station is about 20 minutes walk away from Tanjong Pagar MRT station. It is advisable to take the taxi from Tanjong Pagar train station to go direct to your hotel as this saves a lot of trouble and taxi is not expensive by UK standard.
Tanjong Pagar station belongs to the Malaysian train company and the land also belongs to this company. The building is an old building of the British colony building style and I would recommend you to continue your journey from Woodlands checkpoint to this station by train instead of alighting at Woodlands right after immigration.
The return journey from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur is mostly...

The centre of all Asian cultures.
Review of General: Singapore by
boredinleicester
Advantages: If you love shopping and unnatural beauty then Singapore combines them both brilliantly.
Disadvantages: It's hot so for us brits it takes a little getting used to!
...I went to Singapore nearly a year ago and spent only a total of 5 days there either side of a holiday to a small an insignificant island about a 40minute ferry ride away. However it is somewhere I will always go back to whenever I am passing through that way, and I think as a stopover city it works perfectly. We stayed at the Traders Hotel which is about a ten minute walk from Orchard Road and a very cheap cab ride from either the airport or ferryports. (Get used to having a little bell tinkling whilst you're in the cab as they go off when driving over the speed limit although no-one seems to take any notice). The cabs are fantastic, they are everywhere, they are cheap and the drivers are all lovely and try very hard to make conversation with you, always so enthusiastic about why you're there and what you're doing.
There are numerous...

A WESTERN CITY WITH AN EASTERN LOCATION
Review of General: Singapore by
purdy
Advantages: A great city full of things to see and do
Disadvantages: Perhaps not the best Asian city to visit for the full far eastern experience
...be surprised if we did have to queue. In Singapore everything is so efficient.
Transit between Changi and the city can take various modes:
Taxi Cab - these can be found outside both Terminals 1 & 2 at the arrival hall level. Expect a taxi cab fare to cost around $15-20 plus airport surcharges which are not displayed on the meter.
Bus - found at basement level again at both Terminal 1 & 2 and they depart from 6 in the morning until midnight.
Shuttle Bus - operating between the airport and most major hotels and tickets are $10 approximately for adults. Desks selling tickets for the shuttle bus are readily available and found in both terminals.
MRT (Tube) - found in Terminal 2 and leaves every 12 minutes to take you to the City Hall MRT station, the journey is around half hour and costs $1.50. This was by far the cheapest option and the one we...
