It will either be too strict or too kind, never in between. To use the software you have to have a user name and password. Which can be handy for Parents with young kids, but if you are someone living on your own or with no children, a user name and password can be a hassle as you would most likely want to do everything quickly and efficiently. ...to quickly connect to the Internet and I downloaded the software free of charge. It was very easy to install and configure and the software updates itself when necessary to give you the most up-to-date features. An annoying aspect of Tesco.net software was it was constantly in the task bar when connected and it automatically took you to the Tesco website at connection but the latest release has enabled you to change these in the options panel. As for help and customer service, the help and FAQs on the website are clearly aimed at 'first-time surfers' and offer no help at all other than "how to surf the net", however when I emailed the Customer Service dept with a question they got back to me within 24 hours with a useful reply. The good use of C# enables the developer to get right to the heart of the machine and code from the ground up. visual basic removes most of the fun and restricts you to only accessing the machine at the software level, direct hardware access is possible in C# support which is sorely lacking in other languages. The package is also shipped with crystal reports, as yet i have never had any need or motivation to even touch crystal reports but i am confident that with the help system in VS.NET i will not be going in blind. All of these systems are held together in a beautifully thought out integrated design environment, we have true debugging for visual basic that actually works as it should and the run command now builds the exe as in Visual C++ (a function i always liked). The site is made in a manner of web-portal (well, it IS a web portal), where all new products are listed in order they appear there. Every issue/product has its own separate discussion forum where users can exchange their opinions about item, etc. A homepage and downloads links (if exist) are provided to help users wanting to visit developer's site or download software. Site has its own search engine, so one can easily find almost everything by specifying one or more keywords to search for. Users can browse anonymously or create their own accounts where they can select the look of the site (scheme). Both anonymous and registered users can post their opinions. ...I bought a new edition of .net after trying quite a few other computer mags, i found this is the second best internet magazine available, the first being Internet Magazine(see my other opinion). .net focuses on a wide range of internet stuff including web building, news, software, hardware, and isp's. Every issue comes with a free cover disc packed with the latest and best software(some full versions,free and shareware)it shows you step by step how to use the best ones. Each issue has many tricks and tips for web building. The magazine is aimed for the novice to the intermediate(old or young) as they dont use very much jargon and they do have quite alot of beginners stuff. A bright, reasonably bulky and colourful magazine with approx 180 pages for £4.49, not only that but it also has the well written reviews, help pages... Read review

...items and whats-going-on guides which are instantly accessible, but rather seeks to get alternative viewpoints from people in the industry and to offer its own viewpoint more often. This makes all the news, which more often than not is old news by the time the monthly publication date is due. The articles are well written,. usually very helpful pieces that genuinely enhance the web-browsing experience. Every month there are a couple of hardware reviews for net-related materials and there are software reviews for the latest browsers or web development software. And then there is the best bit of the lot - the free CD's. If you are new to the net, then a copy of this magazine will eqip you with everything you need to get browsing like a pro. Last year, they gave away a copy of Dreamweaver, which has to be the best give away in the history... Read review

Unlike some of its competitors, it is aimed at those wanting to get more out of the internet by going into much more depth on issues such as online shopping, promoting a website, web creation/programming workshops. To supplement the written material, the magazine comes with a CD packed full of essential software. Rather than duplicating the stuff which appears on other magazines' free CDs, the .net CD is a real gem coming up with a host of essential software. .net is thoroughly recommended to anybody wanting to find out more about using the internet effectively....
