Song of Susannah - Dark Tower VI by Stephen King
Review of The Dark Tower: Song of Susannah Bk. 6 - Stephen King by
skipper6
Advantages: Important read to stick with plot
Disadvantages: King casting Himself
...Song of Susannah is the sixth and penultimate book in the Dark Tower Series by Stephen King. This book picks up the story of Roland Deschain and his friends exactly where we left them in the previous book with the dilemma of having to find Susannah whilst still trying to save the Dark Tower.
Roland's ka-tet splits into 2 for this book, Roland & Eddie are sent to Maine, America to ensure Cal Tower signs over the plot of land in New York that contains the rose that is directly linked to the Dark Tower, whilst here they discover that another link to the towers safety could be a small time writer that goes by the name of Stephen King!! Jake & Father Callahan are at the same time sent to New York to search for a pregnant Susannah who is possessed by a demon...
This is probably my least favourite of all the books in the series, King...

Lord of the Kings?
Review of The Dark Tower VI: Song of Susannah - Stephen King by
dididave
Advantages: Spaghetti Western theme, action sections work well
Disadvantages: King writes himself into story. Needlessly long winded
..."Song of Susannah" is the sixth novel by Stephen King in the increasingly lengthy but hugely successful Dark Tower series. It is the penultimate novel of the series and this is both its greatest strength and its weakness. This novel cannot be read without any prior knowledge of the previous five and unlike his previous efforts King makes no attempts to involve new readers in the tale.
The stories main protagonist Roland of Gilead continues in his quest towards the Dark Tower along with his friend and fellow gunslinger Eddie Dean in an attempt to stop it being destroyed.
The Dark Tower is the centre of all worlds. It is what binds them together. Represented by a single red rose it joins all worlds together by its "beams" of light. However, the Dark Tower is crumbling, the twelve original beams have failed and there is just one left...

The Never Ending Story?
Review of The Dark Tower VI: Song of Susannah - Stephen King by
Eskimo_butter
Advantages: Keeps you wanting more, always wondering where it could possible lead next.
Disadvantages: I honestly can't think of any.
...Unfortunately the story is coming to a close, but this set of books is one set I will always be proud to own.
For all those people out there that think all of Kings Books will be scary, think again. Although this series is very action packed, and may be a little creepy at times, it is a fantastic book to read with out making you hide under the covers.
The Dark Tower VI: Song of Susannah by Steven King is in my opinion one of the best books in the series.
The story follows straight on from ‘Wolves of the Calla’, with an introduction for new comers to the story and a gentle reminder for ‘constant readers’ as Steven King puts it. He has a fantastic writing sense and is very good with imagination and creativity/originality. Although the first book starts out like a western, the story has become very strange and actually leaves you...

Where I would be without these songs...
Review of Top 10 Songs of All Time by
ghost_w1
Advantages: These are the songs that get me through the days...
Disadvantages: none...
...*** iNTRODUCTIOn ***
Where I would be without these songs I don't know. They are the songs that help me get through the days, the songs that make me smile when i need cheering up, the songs that can make me cry when i'm down and the songs that stop me from tipping over the edge. They take me away to my imaginary world for just a few minutes where i can escape from the entire world. They are songs that will always be there when nobody else is and songs that will be with me forever...This is the music that makes an impact...Here they are...my top 10 songs...
*** tHE SONGs ***
1- RUNNING THROUGH THAT GARDEN (FLEETWOOD MAC)
This song is a Fleetwood Mac song that features on their 2003 album Say You Will but it is written entirely by Stevie Nicks. The music is inspiring, being incredibly uplifting but moving at the same time. It...

10 Good Songs
Review of Top 10 Songs of All Time by
laserquester
Advantages: See Text
Disadvantages: See Text
...This is actually a list of ten of my favorite songs, not my top ten of all time, manipulating the topic a little but still close enough.
Artist: Wet Wet Wet
Title: Love is All Around
Length: 4:05
Album: Picture This (1995)
This is the cover version of the Troggs somewhat less successful version of the 1960's. Used as the theme song for the hit film 'Four Weddings and a Funeral'. When released the song spent a massive 15 weeks at number one, maybe it would have equalled the time spent at number one by 'Bryan Adams - Everything I Do'. However, the band removed it from sale, as they could not understand why it was selling so well after such a length of time.
The reason why I include the song in ten is because, despite being a love song, it does not reduce itself to the soppyness of songs such as 'BeeGees - How Deep is your...

Some Of My Favourite Songs.
Review of Top 10 Songs of All Time by
DebzJ
Advantages: Great songs
Disadvantages: You might not agree, plus I have a very mixed taste!
...Well this is my attempt at only choosing ten songs as my all time favourites. I know I have a weird and mixed taste in music, I don’t go for a particular “genre” instead what I feel sounds good and I like music that shows talent too. I could probably pick more than ten songs that are my favourites and after I’ve finished the review it is likely that I will remember other songs and change the review. I want to try and limit it to one song per artist but I’m not sure I’ll be able to do that! I am not going to torture myself by putting them in order, it’s just random. Here goes…
Red Hot Chili Peppers – Otherside
Starts off with slow guitar, and then introduces the great voice of Antony Kiedis. It has some great harmonies towards the end of the song. I really admire the chili...

A List of Some Songs
Review of 10 Best Rock Songs by
piffles
Advantages: They are good songs!
Disadvantages: You think they are bad songs probably!
...This is the first op of the ‘top ten’ variety that I have attempted on here on Ciao so it’s probably gonna be of an even lower standard than my normal efforts so for that I apologise in advance. Sorry!
Now then rock, as in the music not the stone or sickly sweet seaside variety, comes in so many different styles and there are so many millions of songs that I doubt many peoples lists of top ten songs would be the same or even that similar. There’s probably no-one that would have a list quite like mine so don’t go sending me ‘hundreds’ of comments saying “You missed out ‘stairway to heaven’” or “How could you not include any AeroSmith?”. Oh pluck it. I know you will anyway so you might as well do it with my ‘permission’. Go on go ahead and do it…..oh what’s that you want the op. first. Riiiggghht here goes.
Before I begin (will I...

Love songs that don't actually suck
Review of Top 10 Love Songs by
helen666
Advantages: love songs that rock!
Disadvantages: probably not all for mums or little kids... no Mariah, Ronan, Westlife etc
...All year round, but particularly when Valentine's day nears, we are "treated" to a deluge of predictable love song compilation albums that always contain the same songs or a load of really soppy stuff, so here I will try to make an alternative playlist of love songs that rock and roll. Some of these can really only loosely be termed "love songs" (it seems that for most songs that are included on "love song" compilations, you don't need a lot of romantic poetics: only a few mentions of the L word are enough for them to qualify) but what the hell... anything that rocks and is love-y enough will do...
So, let the list commence... in reverse order, saving the best til last...
The runners-up - not quite the top ten but still jolly good work:
Cradle Of Filth - Nymphetamine:
A 9-minute epic from a bunch of controversial rock stars...

Songs For Living
Review of Top 10 Songs of All Time by
mattwood
Advantages: Some wonderful music
Disadvantages: You may of course not like it
...Yes folks – after a six-week break from writing on Ciao, I’m back! I’m sorry I haven’t been around much lately, but other commitments (read: coursework) have sadly intruded heavily upon my Ciao time!
One of the things I enjoy doing when I’m not wrestling with school work, is listening to music. Music plays a large part in my life, for I spend a significant portion of every day listening to it! I’m actually a very unmusical person; I never learned to play an instrument and my singing skills put Holly Valance to shame! With these two qualities I could almost certainly be a big star, but right now I’m happy laying on my bed listening to my music!
I’ve listened to a lot of music over the years, and seem to have developed an almost encyclopaedic memory for song lyrics. This made it very difficult for me to choose my top ten songs of all...

Songs that have rocked my life
Review of Top 10 Songs of All Time by
mysticguy
Advantages: read the op
Disadvantages: read the op
...Well, I have had a lot of fave songs. They have been changing with respect to time. First, when i was around 13-14 years old, i had this craze of boyband music. (yeah, you heard me right ! ) I used to listen to BSB and boyzone and the occasional Savage garden and George Michael. Then in the age 15-16, i was crazy about rock music as in the likes of aerosmith and jon bon jovi. Then i hit age 17 and was it the stress that got to me which led to me rap and heavy metal music obssesion. Now my stereo table is cluttered with CD’s and MC’s of Eminem, Marlyn Manson, Limp Bizkit, DMX, 2-Pac ( May his soul rap in peace) , Mettlica, Crazy Town and the likes. My PC has a collction of over 1500 rap MP3’s and 800+ heavy metal MP3’s. But through all these stages, Bryan Adams kinda remained constant on my stereo table...
