...The Sony HTSF1000 Home Theatre upgrade kit was a purchase I made in June to round out my home cinema set up. The whole system has been hooked up together since my Sky HD arrived in July, however I had been using the speaker system prior to that with my DVD recorder. It is important to not early on that this system does not include a DVD player or recorder, which many Home Theatre systems include. I know this because my mate has got one he is always watching DVD now. It dose really sound like your at the cinema the sound echo’s around the room, the only problem is if you turn it up to nearly top volume the sub starts to vibrate. But still who has it at full volume it would pod your ear drums lol. You can also have different sound settings like video game, dolby prologic, small hall, big hall, full bass, and a fully customizable setting for your own creations. There is absolutely no distortion no matter how loud you turn this system up a bit of vibration if full volume as I said earlier in this review. The television from the house Sony is very simply held, is however nevertheless a focus for us and the visitors. It affects therefore no case klobig. Beyond that this television has three visible loudspeakers. Two of it are in each case on the left and on the right televisions. On the front this television is completely under still the firm name. Despite the many links on the rear side of him, he looks very good also from the rear. With its weight of 54 kg this television from the house Sony is not easy even, therefore it should be considered on which one places it. Advantages: DVD,CD, RADIO & AMP in 1 - all very neat & compact.
Disadvantages: Only preset sound modes - no bass/treble control.

...Let me start by stating I love Sony designs and their technology - but don't think that this opinion will be biased! I will be very fair. The Sony DAV S800 is basically a very good dvd player with a home 5.1 DTS cinema speaker kit attached. It is silver (aluminium) in colour with 5 matching micro satellite speakers,and a huge oval shaped passive subwoofer (no power supply needed for the woofer). The centre speaker sits on top of your TV or below, and is magnetically shielded to stop interference with your TV picture. The remaining four speakers sit on top of Sony's stylish aluminium tower stands. These look like aluminium skyscrapers! You either love them (as I do) or hate them (as my wife does!)The whole package certainly looks impressive and expensive. Most home cinema kits don't come with stands, which means you probably... Advantages: very sleek and stylish, easy to use and great quality sound
Disadvantages: rather expensive and wireless rear speakers are not really wireless

...I purchased this system to add to my plasma, wanting to cut down on wires and bulk. The rear speakers are wireless to the front but must connect to each other , which I feel is a minus point. All the connections are made on the sub-woofer / amplifier, which keeps everything neat. There is no s-video connection which would have made things easier for me but the choice of connections meant everything could be hooked up with a minimum of fuss and the on screen setup took just minutes. The system does look great and the sound is wonderful, especially if you find a lot of soundtracks rather fuzzy as the night mode really enhances speech and the multitude of surround effects you can get makes listening to anything a pleasure. The dvd player is what you would expect from Sony and the touch panel is a great gadget. The tuner is excellent... Read review

...Working in a electrical store I get to see and play with some of Sony’s latest hardware, and when the Sony rep brought the new DAV-S300 home cinema kit in, it didn’t take me long to see it was a quality piece of kit. For any one who wants a cinema in their front living room for £500 then read on. It looks the business and does the business; the DAV-S300 is the last word in home entertainment. If you want the to solve all your home cinema and entertainment needs this is the system for you, easy to set up and install the system comes complete with amplifier, CD/DVD player, satellite speakers and a subwoofer. And if that wasn’t enough it has a built in FM AM tuner, so you can listen to the radio on it as well what more do you want! STYLE! ...This home-theatre kit from Sony is first-rate in all key respects. The sound quality is excellent from the large sub-woofer and five tiny satellite speakers. The control box is neat and has the added bonus that it can be used upright or on its side .. the display can be turned through 90%. The build quality is as good as one would expect of Sony with all the speakers having a really solid feel and enough weight to avoid any annoying buzzing. The finish is silver which will match most modern TV/DVD set ups. I must admit I was a little unclear on the difference between a home theatre and home cinema kit when I began to look into this area. A home cinema will have an integrated DVD player as well as the sound amplifier and speakers .. a home theatre is just the sound system.
