...It is not very often I have to deal with people who are completely un co-operative and refuse to listen to reason but today Southern Electric went straight to the top of the list. Let me tell you a story. I have a friend who is Swedish but lives in this country and Southern Electric are her suppliers. For several years she had paid £ 40 per month for her electricity with no problems whatsoever. When a friend informed her that it sounded a bit high for a small cottage she contacted Southern Electric who agreed with her and reduced it to £ 30 - which she has continued to pay ever since. Then - disaster struck - after years of estimating bills they finally read the meter and sent her an invoice for over £ 2700. Advantages: pay as you go and no shock bills
Disadvantages: have to take key to shop but then go to the shop sometime anyway

...We are on Southern Electric but we never have a bill. A few years ago we swopped over to having a key. This means that we pay for the electricity before we use it. We do this by taking the key to the local shop and handing it over the counter. They put it in a machine and put on the key however much money we want. A bit like a swipe card for your mobile phone. We then take it home put it in our meter and hey presto we have electricity for that amount. Bet you are asking what if the shops shut or we forget. Well then we go on emergency. This means we have £5 worth of electricity that we can use. To "pay it back" we just charge our key when we can plus with an extra £1 and back to normal. ...salesman came from Southern Electric I was reluctant to listen. However, he was quite persuasive in a non pushy sort of way and told me on the spot what sort of savings I could make. He seemed very upfront with me so I ended up signing up to give them a try. To this day I can still say that this was the most un-intrusive salesman I have come across. I should probably mention that I pay my bills by Direct Debit and the way that the Southern Electric salesman/representative won me over was by showing me how much he could get my monthly Direct Debits down to. So when Powergen called me to ask why I was changing they told me that any company could give you a lower Direct Debit, but it would not necessarily cover the bill. Ok, but how the heck do you rate Gas and Electric. The supplier either supplies it or they don't right?! Well, there are two lil secrets. ...Southern Comfort originated in the late 1800's as a drink called Cuffs and Buttons and was produced in St. Louis, Missouri, it is a traditional American Liqueur made from peaches and bourbon with citrus and orange overtones. It has grown in popularity over recent years in this country. The strength of this drink is 40% by vol. I first tasted Southern Comfort about 10 years ago when I lived in Germany and although it would not be my regular drink, I do like a couple of glasses every now and again after a meal. ...As my first review about a beverage I decided I would give my opinions on what is currently my favourite spirit. Southern Comfort is quite literally an intoxicating mix of bourbon whiskey and the pleasant fruity flavour and aromas of oranges. Invented in 1874 by M.W.Heron in New Orleans Southern Comfort received a gold medal at the 1904 World Fair in St.Louis for great taste and quality. On its own Southern Comfort is a pleasant drink to have on ice, chilled down to a cool, easily palatable temperature. Unlike with many spirits the aroma of Southern Comfort as a glass is lifted towards your mouth is very appealling. When taken straight the spirit should not be just "downed" rather it should be sipped and held in the mouth briefly before swallowing. ...My all time favourite alcoholic beverage has got to be Southern Comfort. I have been drinking it since before I was legally allowed to drink and enjoyed it as much then as I do now. I came across this drink quite unexpectedly one day in my local pub when on asking for a whiskey and coke (my parents used to give me small whiskeys when I was younger and I have loved the taste ever since), I was given this divine tasting drink instead of the usual Bell's I was used to. I shoved my glass under the barman's nose and demanded he fill it with the same again. And I've been drinking it ever since. Southern comfort which has the well-known embossed label and was 'brewed on the banks of the Mississippi', is a fairly expensive drink (well more so than my cheap voddie) costing around £8 for a small 35cl bottle and £13.99 in Tesco... ...Has anyone else ever bought a cd that they've barely listened to and only given it a chance a few years later? For me "Southern Hummingbird" is one of those cds. I bought it back in 2002 but only gave it a proper listen this year - and it has definitely grown on me. For Tweet (or Charlene Keys as she was christened) herself, this album was virtually a matter of life or death. Finding herself disillusioned with the music world after letdown after letdown, having endured a painful break-up with her boyfriend, and unable to find herself even a regular job, she had just decided to end it all . . . when old friend Missy Elliot tracked her down to ask her to do some backing vocals for her. ...Well what can I say, As a family we really enjoyed these Southern Fried chicken portions, I didn't purposely go out to buy them, just saw them on offer and thought what the hell I'll give them a try. They are really delicious, we have tried similar products to these before, and they have never seemed to get it quite right, but Iceland has got this smack on, There is generally a good mix of Chicken drumsticks and thighs, so whichever your preference its satisfied. Best I found is to cook them in the oven, keeping an I on them as to not over burn them, as with most products there is a cooking guide on the packet, but I have found that it is always best to use your own instincts and cooking abilities, frozen products can be a bit awkward to get right. There is a good texture to the cooked product, nice and crispy, but not sore... Read review
