...St Ives in Cornwall is the most beautiful place in England, with its winding little roads and stunning views you will fall in love with it the minute you arrive. It has everything you need from a holiday ( providing the weather is good) St Ives has many beaches and coves, the main beach being Porthminster, it is huge and flat and in the summer it is heaving with tourists, the gentle slope to the sea is ideal for small children as it does not get too deep too quick. There are lots of facilities including deck chair hire and beach huts. Shops selling ice creams and snacks are also available The other large beach is Porthmeor, which is primarly a surfing beach, I would not recommend this for small children as it can be quite rough and you will be surprised at how quickly the tide comes in. Advantages: Scenery, art, surfing, charming town, lovely countryside
Disadvantages: Far away unless you live in the West Country

...The first thing that pops into my head when I think of St Ives in Cornwall is the well-known riddle: “As I was going to St. Ives, I met a man with seven wives. Every wife had seven sacks, every sack had seven cats, every cat had seven kitts. Kitts, cats, sacks, wives, how many were going to St. Ives?” Of course, the problem is a trick question. The narrator meets the man and his wives, sacks, cats, kitts ON THE WAY to St Ives and they were in fact leaving. So, the answer is ONE PERSON (the narrator). But let’s say, they were in fact all going to St Ives – how many would it be, including the narrator? It’s a long train journey to St Ives from Cornwall, and this mathematical calculation taxed our brains for quite some time! Advantages: Breautiful beaches, weather, Art and food
Disadvantages: Miles away from the rest of the country

...Welcome to St Eia, the Cornish dialect announces, as you round the final bend from St Erth (or on the train) and you see nestling around the harbour, glinting in the sunlight the town of StIves. St Ives was originally a fishing port and one of the major trading points on the west coast rivalling Bristol in the 16th century. Now the fish are likely to be caught by tourists on 3 hour fishing trips in converted fishing boats. The town is full of winding streets going by names such as Teetotal street, Fore street and Salubrious place and offers a good main street (the aforementioned Fore street) with everything from Woolworths to fudge shops via Art Galleries ( try The new craftsman )and good professional surf shops.
