SAS v BA to ARN
Review of Scandinavian Airlines - SAS by  pilot61

Advantages: Real-life advantages if frequent flyer
Disadvantages: Tight seat pitch in all classes

...This year I have started flying SAS twice a month between Heathrow and Stockholm Arlanda (ARN in airline parlance). I sent 4 years doing the same with BA but changed allegence due to the SAS frequent flyer arrangement being better for me. Basically even though I fly economy I can still get and maintain the Gold card with SAS while I couldn't maintain that level with BA. I don't know if it is coincidence or not but since I have got my SAS Gold card,I have got upgraded from economy to economy flex (and once to business class) 3 times out of the last 10 flights with SAS while I only received 2 upgrades during 50-60 flights with BA. On the Stockholm flights SAS seems to have a smaller pitch between the rows of seats than BA so they feel more cramped (so try to get a seat in the emergency exit rows and benefit from a few more inches... Radisson SAS Co. Limerick Republic of Ireland
Review of Radisson SAS Hotel & Spa, Limerick by  bananamanuk

Advantages: Location to airport, landscaped gardens, quiet location
Disadvantages: Dirty rooms, very well used, small beds, expensive, remote

...OVERVIEW I just did a search on Ciao and noticed that there were no reviews for the Radisson SAS hotel in Co. Limerick in the Republic of Ireland and so I thought I would share my own personal experiences of the hotel in the hope that it will help others that are thinking of staying at the hotel, or at least help give a more informed opinion. When I booked to stay at the Radisson Co. Limerick in September 2007 it was advertised as a 4 star hotel on each of the websites that I looked at. I see that Ciao is now listing it as a 3 star hotel which has prompted me to write this. HOTEL BOOKING As with all international hotels the Radisson SAS chain offers a useful website that details each of the hotels in the chain, provides some pictures and virtual tours of various parts of the buildings. It’s possible to view room amenities... Read review

The S.A.S Survival Guide
Review of The SAS Survival Handbook - John Wiseman by  yessuf

Advantages: Very Informative
Disadvantages: A bit bulky for the rucksack!!

...I have had this book for approximately 10 years. It cost £12.99 from Ottakers. It is roughly 10in. by 8in and weighs exactly 2lb!So,like I said above, not exactly ideal for carrying round in your rucksack. That said, there is a much smaller, abridged pocket version available for a fraction of the cost. Although a survival handbook,it is also invaluable for the weekend walker, camper, rambler etc.In fact anyone who likes the outdoor life and is away from "civilization" for any length of time. A Bit About The Author: John Wiseman served with the S.A.S for 26 years. He is now a Survival Instructor for the S.A.S and also appears on various survival programmes. The book itself is 288 pages long and divided into 11 sections. Section 1:ESSENTIALS. This section deals with what sort of kit to carry with you at all times. This survival kit... Read review

Clearly some of their staff have had SAS training
Review of Scandinavian Airlines - SAS by  fam6

Advantages: Good food, nice on the ground staff
Disadvantages: Cramped, smelly plane. Air hostesses with a foul temper. Late take off

...I recently had the dubious pleasure of flying from Copenhagen to Birmingham International with the SAS. I hate flying. There is not one thing about the experience that I enjoy. I do everything I can to avoid flying - I will spend hours on trains, smelly buses or vomit inducing ferries if it means I don't have to fly. Hwoever, when my boyfriend insisted that we get back to the UK for a football match and all my best arguments failed to convince him otherwise. I had concocted a piece of time-tabling genius that would have allowed us to get from Denmark to the UK by train - but the connection from Norway to Denmark didn't allow this (a word of advice - never trust the Swedish rail system - they are worse than ours re: reliability). So, I was presented with no escape. We bought our tickets with 20 minutes to go before take off on what... Read review

SAS - Amsterdam - A great place to stay
Review of Radisson SAS Hotel, Amsterdam by  tallington

Advantages: Right in city centre, Great building, Friendly Staff
Disadvantages: No natural ventilation to most rooms, Not for you if you don't like Red Light District

...My partner and I stayed in the Radisson SAS in October 2002. It was my second visit to Holland, and his first. My first stay was in a place called Purmerend, about 15 minutes by car from Amsterdam. I knew I wanted to stay in the centre. I went through a number of hotel websites and found this. It was a snip (about £250 each for the week) for a five star hotel! We arrived there. It looks like a whole row of old traditional Dutch houses from the outside, but inside is magnificent. The ceiling of the reception must be 5 storeys high, with a big glass roof. Overlooking it are the majority of rooms (balconies). There is also a landscaped balcony garden inside, which is beautiful. The rooms were very well equipped, with an iron, hairdrier, cable TV. There was loads of hanging and shelf space in the built in wardrobe... Read review

SAS Radisson hotel in Beijing
Review of Radisson SAS Beijing, Beijing by  gard

Advantages: Nice rooms, squash courts, friendly and helpful staff
Disadvantages: Not the best location

...We stayed at the Radisson SAS Hotel Beijing for 6 nights on our travel to Beijing in March 2003. We stayed there from march 15th. The hotel itself doesn’t have a great location. It is located next to ring 3 on the northeast of Beijing. But this was not really a big issue because there were always taxis outside the hotel and it was easy to get into the center of town. It cost about 20-30 RMB to take the taxi into Tiananmen square. It is also possible to take the subway to get around. First you have to walk for about 15 minutes to get to Liufang station. From here you can get to the loop line and then switch to Line 1. The lobby of the hotel is standard. On the second floor you will find the breakfast restaurant but there is also another restaurant called ”the grill” if I’m not mistaken. We only tried out the breakfast place... Read review

Radisson SAS Portman Hotel
Review of Radisson SAS Portman Hotel, London by  rickyshah

Advantages: Location, Location, Location
Disadvantages: Pricey-ish

...This weekend just gone me and the missus thought we'd go off on a short break in London. We chose the SAS Portman Hotel since its location was fab and the price fell within our budget of £300 for 2 nights. We had heard only good things about this one so we booked at Lastminute and paid £240 for a Superior room with breakka. Or breakfast, in English. If we had booked through the hotel's own website it would be nearer £300. Where is it, then? The hotel is located just off Oxford Street, opposite Marble Arch tube station. It has easy access by tube, since Marble Arch, Bond Street and Oxford Circus are within walking distance, and many buses stop nearby. Even night buses! I don't need to tell you how good Oxford Street is for shopping.... but I will. All the major chains are there, plus its home to some of the biggest department stores... Read review

Radisson SAS - Taba Egypt
Review of Radisson SAS Resort, Taba by  daylehall

Advantages: Beautiful setting, clean hotel
Disadvantages: Entertainment was poor

...friendly and attended to your every need. Ice creams are available free of charge (to people on the all inclusive basis) between 1-4 which was great as it got very hot while sunbathing. The setting of the hotel was beautiful, set deep in the mountians, providing a wonderful landscape for taking photos. The hotel has a large swimming pool and attatched to this was a kiddies pool. Sun longers are free of charge and the pool boys will bring you over towels. You have the choice of sunbathing on the beach or by the pool, sunloungers were available in both areas. There were plently of bars dotted arounf the hotel so where ever you lay you didnt have to walk very far to get a drink or snack. There are also hammocks around the area which provided us with a few giggles. The hotel itself was very breathtaking to look at and I felt... Read review

RADISSON SAS HOTEL, BELFAST - Top Class
Review of Radisson SAS Hotel, Belfast by  traveller10

Advantages: Good central location
Disadvantages: None that I could see

...on the day of departure, you can keep your room until 3pm, all you have to do is to tell the reception. Another brilliant service is the Grab & Run breakfast. If you are in a hurry and don't have time for a sit down breakfast there is hot coffee, tea, and fresh croissants available in the lobby, every day. ***********DINING********** The restaurant has a very Mediterranean feel It is called the Filini Restaurant offers a selection of Italian cuisine. The restaurant overlooks a lovely water feature with fountains and the interior of the restaurant has leather seating and private booths. Cost for 2 people, 2 courses was £59 including a lovely bottle of wine. I jotted down the opening hours as I thought this might be helpfull as well. Breakfast: 6:30 a.m.-10 a.m. (Mon-Fri); 7:30 a.m.-11 a.m. (Sat-Sun) Lunch: Noon- 2 p.m. (Mon-Sat) Dinner: 6... Read review

Relax at the Radisson
Review of Radisson SAS Hotel, Nice by  bluejules

Advantages: Nice hotel, friendly staff
Disadvantages: Expenisve, not much storage space in room

...~ Introduction ~ I recently returned from a holiday with my parents. We stayed in this Hotel in Nice, France. We stayed in a Radisson SAS in Amsterdam several years ago but other than remembering that it was a positive experience I don't remember a lot about it so I can't really compare the two. I was looking forward to staying in the hotel and I was pleased it was only 10-15 minutes away from the airport by taxi. My dad booked the hotel (along with the flights) online and he also booked out taxi so it was there waiting to pick us up at the airport. The taxi fare was charged to our hotel bill. After we landed and got our luggage we head out of the airport to meet the taxi driver. He was standing with a card which had our surname written on and he directed us outside where we had to stand 5-10 minutes before getting in the taxi... Read review
