Thomas Cook...Book
Review of Thomas Cook by gravin

Advantages: Friendly, efficient
Disadvantages: None

...We recently travelled with Thomas Cook and found them refreshingly good. With a recent poor experience with Going Places we were reluctant to book with any travel agent again but Thomas Cook restored some faith in travel agents with us. Their staff were friendly and seemed very well trained. They found us a holiday with JMC at short notice and followed through their service quickly and efficiently. Our holiday destination was unknown until we arrived in Mallorca, which we were worried about, but we ended up in a good hotel at a nice resort. The only thing that went wrong with the whole holiday was a three hour delay at the airport on departure and return but this was not the fault of Thomas Cook.... Read review

cheap friendly and efficient flight specialists
Review of Thomas Cook by guilia

Advantages: for efficient, friendly no pressure to buy flight quotes with the best prices around
Disadvantages: none

...For a friendly and efficient flight service with no pressure to purchase flights on the spot visit Thomas Cook Market st , Manchester. The staff here have no qualms about searching through endless flights for you to find the lowest prices. Ibooked a flight july 1999 the flight was a return to Venice from Manchester the amazing price they found for me was £69.00 all inclusive. Prior to Thomas Cook I had visited other travel agents who all quoted ridiculously high prices. They didnt search through flights on the computer they just wanted to give one or two prices if this wasnt suitable they gave up and didnt come up with another option. By comparison the prices of Trailfinders, Sta Travel, were quoted as £220 or upwards. British Airways couldnt find me a flight that was suitable. I will be returning to Italy this year... flights
Review of Thomas Cook Airlines (powered by Condor) by fishyblairblobs

Advantages: cost
Disadvantages: packed like sardines in a tin

...It is the first time we have flown Thomas Cook and also the last.We flew to Pafos on the 12th August 2006 and return flight 26th August 2006.On the outward journey row 5 we were very disappointed with the spacing of the seating as it gave very little room to move or even put your tray down to have your food etc but worse was to come on the return flight row 30 backs onto the toilets the seat do not recline in fact they lean forward and when the seat in front is reclined no room at all. The biggest joke is the safety video telling you to do the exercises to help stop deep vein thrombosis you have got to be joking it is laughable there is no way on earth you could even attempt any of these.I wouldn't mind if I was tall but I am only 5ft 8in.We have flown with other cheap flight companies and not one was anywere near as cramped so I would... Used then a lot of times
Review of Thomas Cook by clerrigo

Advantages: helpful, freindly
Disadvantages: price, late deals don't exist

...I have booked via a thomas cook agency on a number of occasions and have always found the staff helpful and more than ready to throw brochures at me. Indeed we have had some quite complicated arrangements to make at times and they have always managed to deliver what we wanted. The prices have been good but now I think by shopping around you can get a better deal. Thse only problem is common to most travel agencies in that the late deals advertised in the windows do not seem to really exist as they are always just sold out.... Read review

Might as well book online
Review of Thomas Cook by saffdarling

Advantages: Convenient - on the high street
Disadvantages: Rude, unhelpful staff

...In booking this year's holiday I considered booking online, direct with the tour operator, Island Cruises. I thought, however, that it might be safer to book through a travel agent, just in case there were any problems with my holiday. I thought that the point of a travel agent was to help the customer get the holiday they want. Unfortunately I was wrong. A couple of months before my holiday I received a letter from the tour operator, forwarded by Thomas Cook. Judging by the dates on the letter and the Thomas Cook cover letter, there had been some delay in forwarding it. I was informed that my flight was to be redirected via another airport, meaning a wait of upto one and a half hours on the plane. The departure time was moved earlier, and arrival time later. The tour operator's letter indicated that I could exchange my holiday... Read review

Great website, great airline, great fun
Review of Thomas Cook by niksmiff69

Advantages: Great website, good airline
Disadvantages: prices can be higher than other companies

...After years of taking holidays in America and the Caribbean, my wife wanted to be allowed to take her bikini top off and get her golden globes out. So, we started shopping on the Internet for a relatively cheap Med holiday. After various attempts to book the sort of £109 deals you see in the ads at the back of the Sunday papers, we eventually found a hotel in the Thomas Cook Greece brochure in Corfu and found that the cheapest deal was in fact on their website, www.thomascook.com. Our hotel was the Palm Beach in St Georges South, Corfu, and I'll review the hotel and resort another time - this review is of Thomas Cook and its in-house airline, Thomas Cook Airlines (formerly JMC). And it's a favourable review; the website was clear and easy to navigate and gave a lit of options and prices depending on the time of flight you want... Read review

Haggle with Thomas Cook
Review of Thomas Cook by jonathancowley

Advantages: up to date deals in window
Disadvantages: expensive insurance

...There's a statue of Thomas Cook outside Leicester railway station which I walk past whenever I catch a train. I've only booked one holiday with them but I found their service to be friendly and quick. We saw a late deal in the window which was still available once we went inside - on previous occasions with other travel agents I have found that the deals on display are unavailable. In this case the actual price quoted had been reduced since the card was put up, so we saved an extra bit of money. On the negative side, Thomas Cook seemed to have a very strange way of selling insurance. They offered us cover for a week in Europe for £30 each, which was ridiculously high, so we said no thanks. Once we had rejected £30 she said that she could offer us insurance for £15 each, which we accepted. It just seems very dodgy practice as if I... Read review

FLY WITH THOMAS!
Review of Thomas Cook Airlines (powered by Condor) by James070891

Advantages: Clean and on time
Disadvantages: In-flight meal

...I travelled with Thomas Cook Airlines when I went on a cruise in the med in october. The flight was from Bristol - Palma return. It was about two hours each way. Thomas Cook Airlines open their check outs early and amazingly the queues are not long. Checking in was an easy and straight forward process and all the mandatory secruity questions were asked. The check in staff were helpful and they were efficent. At the gate Thomas Cook staff greeted us and let us board the plane in seat order. Boarding started 30 minutes before the flight was meant to take off. The plane was clean and friendly. It has good disabled facilties with a a couple of disabled seats and a toilet. Cabin staff showed us to our seats. When the plane was boarded the cabin staff showed everyone the safety briefings backed up with the safety video. The plane departed... Read review

Only a Travel Agent - Flying with Thomas Cook
Review of Thomas Cook Airlines (powered by Condor) by jenlaw

Advantages: leather seats, friendly staff, good food
Disadvantages: pre-allocated seats which could not be changed

...I have just flown to and from Austria with Thomas Cook and I have to admit I previously had no idea that they actually ran an airline themselves! A friend of mine booked the flights through the Barclaycard travel service and we got a good discount on our whole skiing holiday as Barclaycard holders. The whole holiday was provided by Thomas Cook along with Neilson Holidays and everything thankfully ran very smoothly. I flew from Gatwick to Innsbruck and and as a nervous flier I was somewhat anxious, especially not having heard of Thomas Cook flying aeroplanes. However, as soon as I saw the plane, my fears were allayed and friendly staff were on standby on the plane to show you to your seat. Unfortunately, this seat had been pre-allocated. This was great as I was travelling in a group of 7, which meant that we were all seated together... Read review

Travelling with toddler made easy
Review of Thomas Cook Airlines (powered by Condor) by ally2kc

Advantages: reasonably priced, great leg room, comfortable seats, friendly staff
Disadvantages: No meal options for small children

...Travelling into town with a toddler can be stressful, let alone flying to Canada on a 7.5hr flight. Last year, my son and I booked flights with Thomas Cook to travel to Canada to see my family. I cannot tell you how many sleepless nights I had imagining the worst. I needn't have worried - both my son and the airline were absolute stars. Booking the flight over the internet couldn't have been easier and when I had to correspond with them regarding my son and safety regulations, they were quick to respond and very helpful. Travelling on my own with an 18month olds, a pushchair, and luggage is not easy let me tell you. I was very grateful to the Thomas Cook staff for all the help they gave us in getting to the plane and for helping us get settled properly once on the plane. The planes are smaller but the individual seats are comfortable... Read review
