Thomson 42"plazma tv
Review of Thomson 42 WB 02 S by
SNOWY1976
Advantages: Stylish silver finnish, good picture, flicker free
Disadvantages: poor sound quality,bulky remote
...After looking for a 42"plazma tv we decided to opt for the thomson 42wb02s and what an excellent choice ,picture quality is good for a plazma and holds it own against the competition(don't be dis-illusioned picture quality of all plazma tvs are inferior compared to conventional crt tvs due to them being in there infancy take this into account )From my experience i found it struggled defining dark colours eg:shadows and night shots but only noticable when close up ,apart from that the picture is good, The display panel comes with built in speakers which seemed to tinny for my liking and doesnt do the tv justice but if you want the hole cinema experience a surround system is a must . when setting up the tv i found it extremely easy to do with help from the on screen menus and help facility
I was inpressed...

Review of Philips 42 PF 9631 D by
mthomson63
Advantages: None
Disadvantages: Poor Support Services
...I purchased a 42PF9967/10 Feb 2006 after 5 weeks it developed a fault it kept turning itself off March 2006 after trying to repair it then deciding that it was beyond economical repair ,Philips not the retailer offered me a replacement even after asking for a refund or TV unit from a different manufacturer (Philips No Way) I felt I was pressured into accepting the replacement a 42PF9631/10 in June 06.
New unit developed a fault in Oct 2006 (foam strip wedged between outer and plasma panel hanging down in centre of screen about 4") apparently this is a minor fault but still had to be picked up from my home in Ayrshire and sent to Philips only repair agent in the UK based in Manchester after many letters, phone calls (Philips charged @15p per min) to retailer, repairer and Philips I finally got it back 20th Dec 2006
They extended original...

Not what I expected
Review of Thomson Holidays by
JeffSumm
Advantages: cheap
Disadvantages: you get what you pay for
...My wife and I went on a ski holiday to Austria last winter with Thomson. Well, thankfully the holiday was a lot of fun, but in many ways this was in spite of Thomsons. They pushed a hotel on us which was a long, hilly trek from anywhere, told us where the nearest Thomsons office was, and then disappeared. The only contact we had with them was a fax the night before we left. There was never anyone in the office, so any problem that arose was down to us to take care of. It's not that we minded so much, but the presentation before we booked painted a completely different picture, and we definitely expected more....

Platinum, because I'm worth it
Review of Thomson Holidays by
steveuk
Advantages: Priority transfers, flight check-in at hotel, high standard accommodation
Disadvantages: Not cheap
...Why Thomson Platinum?
Until a few months ago, I had not even heard of Thomson Platinum. A friend of mine recommended Gran Canaria as a potential holiday destination and I started doing some research on the net for suitable accommodation.
One of the main criteria for finding a hotel was Air Conditioning, the thought of going on holiday and not being able to sleep due to the heat did not appeal to me or my travelling companion. With this and a specific budget in mind, I discovered a few hotels that matched our requirements. In the end, we decided to go for one of the hotels in the Thomson Platinum collection, mainly because it was one of the cheapest but also had very good review online.
So .... what is Thomson Platinum?
Essentially a collection of "affordable holiday packages...

Thomson Long Haul
Review of Thomson by
chriswilcox1980
Advantages: in flight entertainment, reasonable price
Disadvantages: not great service, delays, comfort
...Having read other reviews of Thomson flights and spoken to friends who have also flown with Thomson I must say I was quite skeptical about booking with this company. I was partricularly concerned as it is a ten hour flight to Cancun and if the service and facilities weren't up to scratch it would be a nightmare.
I will start with the good points, which I have to admit, are fewer than the bad points. The in flight entertainment was certainly up to scratch with a good selection of films, television shows and games all contained within the seat back on a touch screen monitor. The entertainment package could also be upgraded for a small fee of five pounds! Whilst I wouldn't say the food was a particular strong point, it was definitely passable, however, I am surprised Aldo Zilli has put his name to it. I found leg room adequate.
Now onto...

Is Thomson still Thomson?
Review of Thomson Holidays by
tmooha10
Advantages: I beleive they are still the best at what they do.
Disadvantages: Can be expensive
...Again I will start this review by saying that I am employed by TUI UK the company who own Thomson holidays.
I was originally employed by the Thomson Travel Group, the company was the taken over and has now evolved to become part of the world of TUI, the largest tourism company in the world (so I am told).
The actual idea behind the world of TUI concept is actually very good. They aim to be present at every stage in the customer holiday from where they book, who they fly with, where they stay and every other step in the package holiday process. Therefore the plan is you book your holiday in Lunn Poly, you fly with Britannia airways (soon to become Thomson airways) and they you stay in one of the many hotel chains which the company operates. It has actually got to the point where no matter where you go you can't escape the TUI smile...

Thomson Holidays lose Court Case.
Review of Thomson Holidays by
Richard207
Advantages: N/A
Disadvantages: N/A
...In February 1999 we visited the one bedroomed apartments at Dunas Club, Corralejo, Fuerteventura. They came with the following facilities : microwave, toaster, kettle & fridge, telephone, TV, hairdryer, iron & ironing board.
For our sixth visit to Fuerteventura we booked a week in a one bedroomed apartment at Dunas Club. On arrival at Fuerteventura Airport on 17th March 2000, we were told by Judith A Johnson that as Dunas Club was overbooked we would be staying in a one bedroomed apartment at Sol Las Olas, some 3km away from where we wanted to be. When we protested that Sol Las Olas did not have the facilities we had booked, Judie told us that was not a problem as they would be supplied. It was all lies!!! We ended up in a Studio, pic at http://members.aol.com/portlanddirect/view.jpg Thomson defence called this a garden view! The next...

Highly Recommended!!
Review of Thomson Holidays by
bobhaskett
Advantages: You are well looked after.
Disadvantages: None really
...My family have used Thomson Holidays for the last ten years travelling to Majorca, Minorca, Tenerife, Corfu and cruising and have always had satisfaction. The descriptions of the resorts and hotels or apartments have been accurate and never have we been let down by things not mentioned in the brocures.
The help from reps has ranged from fair to excellent, the only disappointment with them is that some are too keen to sell you excursions. Prices we have paid have always been cometitive, usually only beaten by late bookings, but as we like to look forward to our holidays we do prefer to book early.
It has to be said that the Mediteranean cruise we went on two years ago was first class and also a lot cheaper than with rival companies, I would recommend anyone to cruise with Thomsons if you have never done it before.
Finally, by going...

Put an Orange Fizz in your life
Review of Soft - Rupert Thomson by
Jonny_Narcissus
Advantages: superb plot & characters
Disadvantages: never any with Thomson
...Rupert Thomson is probably one of Britains most underrated writers, but one of my favourites.
Lets face it, how many of you have heard of him ?.
"Soft" is his first novel, and one of his best - well, to be honest you can't go wrong with any Thomson novel. His characters are always on the verge of bizarre, even disturbing - his plotlines no less so.
From "Soft" to his most recent "The Book of Revelation".
If you are new to Thomson, "Soft" may be a best place to start.
If you were only to read one of his novels, my suggestion would be "The Insult".
Do you want me to outline the plot?, or leave it up to you to find out?
Oh, okay then..
"Soft" is based on a marketing strategy of pure illegality. Human guinea pigs undergo a strategy of experimentation of the mind to force them, no urge them to drink the companies special Orange Fizzy Drink...
