Reviews of toby's carvery
Toby Carvery plus other menus
Review of Toby Carvery by
MAllen400
Advantages: only £5 per person
Disadvantages: told how long to wait, but usually shorter than told
...At the weekend during a visit to family we decided that it would be nice to go out for a meal.
With 4 generations of us we decided to go to Toby Carvery as we could either have the carvery and help ourselves to as much or as little as we want - ideal for the youngest generation and the eldest or the set menu.
We went to the Toby Carvery in Banbury, Oxfordshire.
On entering the grounds we found plenty of free parking surrounded by plenty of well set out lawn and garden.
On entering Toby Carvery you have to wait for the waitress to ask how many of you there are.
We were told there would be a 30 minute wait. That did not seem too bad and we went to the second part where there is a bar and settled down to order and have a drink.
The drinks were very reasonably priced. In fact all were at least 30p cheaper than the town...

Like roast? Love Toby.
Review of Toby Carvery by
fransdxxx
Advantages: Lovely huge all you can eay roast! friendly atmosphere
Disadvantages: little vegetarian choice, long time to be seated, only one portion of meat, limited menu.
...The toby Carvery is a chain of family restaurants which are very nice indeed.
Food
I have to say, only go here if you want a roast. Yes, their speciality is roast and they do other dishes but I'd say about 7 at the most. In the summer they do nice meat salads and the toby carvery club meat sandwich is very nice. But roast is really what you go to Toby Carvery for. Eevery time I have been there, they have done three meats- Beef, Turkey and Gammon all of which are lovely. Very good qaulity meats. The process is, you wait to get seated, get a table and then a waitress asks you what you want to order. If you want a roast you just go up to the serving area and grab a plate. The chef person will then ask you what meats you want. You can have all three if you like, but that doesnt necessarily mean that you will get more meat. You can...

Good old Toby!
Review of Toby Carvery by
ang_2906
Advantages: lovely if you like a roast dinner
Disadvantages: no choice for vegetarians
...It's very rare that I get a Sunday off from work, so when I do, we like to either go out for Sunday lunch or cook a roast at home.
Recently we took a trip to the Toby Carvery down the road from us. As you can imagine, being a Sunday, and serving roast dinners, the place can get very busy. We noticed it was easier to get a table for two rather than a larger table very quickly.
There isn't the option to be able to book in advance, however if you should need to wait for a table, you have the option of sitting in the bar while one becomes available.
*The pub*
Being owned by Mitchells and Butlers (the same company who own the Harvester restaurants), the two Carvery pubs I have eaten in in the past, have the same kind of layout and style as the Harvester restaurants. Laid out to be half pub, half restaurant, you have the choice...

Christmas at the Carvery
Review of Toby's Carvery by
zoe_page
Advantages: Cheap
Disadvantages: After a while, you're just throwing money away. Cheap isn't a bargain if it's pants
...I'm sure there are many people who will comment on this review that they love their local Toby Carvery, go religiously, and never have bad service. These are the people who will say it is unfair for me to go once, and then review this place. They will moan that I am letting one bad experience cloud my views of an entire chain, and that the poor people in the south east trying to make their living running such a place will suffer because of the cruel words I bestow on their colleagues in the north west. To these people, I say "Tough". To me, the fact that I went (yes, just the once), and it had such a profound impression on me after that one visit that I had enough material to write 1700 words on it is enough. Based on the experience I had, I would not return, ever. I would not give it another go. There are no second chances when...

Toby or not Toby
Review of Toby Carvery, The Parkhead, Sheffield by
dynamode
Advantages: Not having to cook it yourself
Disadvantages: None as far as I can see
...There is one thing in life I love and that is eating out, which I do quite alot, hence the overweight me.
The Toby Carvery on a sunday is absolutely superb. You can eat as much as you want.
The carvery is set up very nice with the chefs behind the counter carving up the joints. They had a wide choice, beef, turkey and ham. I had a slice of all three. I had Yorkshire Pudding and a ball of stuffing. The vegetables were a huge choice as well, carrots, leeks, swede, roast potatoes, new potatoes, cauliflower cheese. On the side were many different sauces, horseradish, mustard and cranberry. You help yourself to all these. If you wish to have gravy you can and they had two flavours, ordinary and onion.
You can go back for more vegetables if you require but this filled me and was more than ample.
We didnt have a starter...

Best Carvery in Britain
Review of Toby's Carvery by
ion_
Advantages: Excellent food, a nice pint and all reasonably priced. What more could you want.
Disadvantages: During busy periods, such as Sundays you may have to wait for a seat.
...A traditional pub and restaurant that serves British food. I really enjoy eating here and will continue to visit many times in the future.
The decor inside is very welcoming and gives a warm feeling. The walls are covered in comical pictures that have been seen throughout the years in British history. The seats are comfy and the pub is split into two parts. One for relaxing with friends where you can enjoy a drink, and the other part is the restaurant.
Toby offers a menu where you can select a cooked meal from, or if you wish you can choose the carvery. I have never ate any of the other food, I always get the carvery. The restaurant is known for their delicious carvery and I wouldn't pass up an opportunity to eat from it. You firstly select your meat, either gammon, turkey, or a combination. They also offer pie's as an alternative...

TOP UP YOUR PLATE AT THE TOBY
Review of Toby Carving Room by
frannie
Advantages: excellent value for money, guaranteed to go home fullto bursting.
Disadvantages: can't book a table in advance
...When you don’t feel like cooking tea or you fancy going out for Sunday dinner, or even out for a meal with friends, look no further than the Toby carvery (we use our local - the Parson and Clerk in Streetly on a regular basis).
You can have a choice of several starters including the usual soup and prawn cocktail – I tend not to bother most of the time as I save myself for the main course. As the name says, it’s a carvery so that is THE main course. You join the queue at the food counter where there is a chef on hand to carve up the meat of your choice. On the occasions that we have been, there is always a choice of at least two meats – mostly turkey or beef and occasionally they will have either gammon or pork on as well. Once you chosen your meat, you are offered stuffing and Yorkshire pudding. Most...

Fantastic Food Fantastic Value!
Review of Toby's Carvery by
c.hargreaves
Advantages: Lots Of Choice Good Value!
Disadvantages: Food Can Be Dry And Stale!
...Fresh vegetables and 3 succulent joints of meat 7days a week 365days a year! This is what you will find at Toby Carvery!
As a Toby Carvery chef I feel it my duty to right a review on the food we serve and produce! It is totally unbiased and I do regularly travel with my family to visit other Toby's to see if there standards meet mine!
About The Business:
Toby Carvery is a branded business owned and operated by Mitchell's and Butlers of Fleet Street Birmingham, it has 97 Toby outlets nationwide all offering the same value and choice.
You're Visit:
Upon arrival at toby you will be greeted by a warm welcoming atmosphere, as you walk through the door you will find a host point where you will be met by your host (usually a manager!) you will be asked weather you require a table or just a drink in the bar.
If you...

Be A VIP For A Night
Review of Toby Carvery, The White Swan, Holbourne, Birmingham by
AimeeLouise18
Advantages: taste nice, fills you up,is healthier, get treated like a VIP while there
Disadvantages: veg and yorkshire puddings not always done right
...We all fancy going out for something to eat every now and again, whether it's because we're tired and we can't be bothered to cook, or we just fancy a change of scenery. Either way we just want the hard work done for us for a change. But just how many places provide healthy alternatives to cooking? There are Chinese places, Indian places, Kebab places, all of which aren't healthy. Most restauraunts serve meals that are absolutely caked in calories and fat and with most people nowadays watching their weight this isn't good news. But despair not as there is a place I've found where you can eat healthily, providing meals that are both delicious and have the recommended daily 5 portions of veg with them. This place is the 'Toby Carvery'.
*** A Little Info ***
The Toby Carvery has carvery restauraunts all around the UK. They are owned...

SUNDAY DINNER SEVEN DAYS A WEEK
Review of Toby Carvery by
sandrabarber
Advantages: Great Value, Great Choice, Great Taste
Disadvantages: Not enough meat
...I do love a traditional roast Sunday dinner. If I don’t have one roast dinner a week, I get serious withdrawal symptoms. But I don’t like cooking them most of the time, and I don’t always want them on a Sunday. Enter Toby Carvery, my culinary saviour.
Toby Carveries are the restaurants within Toby Inns, which are situated nationwide. There are two close to me and I visit both regularly. Like the best chain restaurants, they are consistently the same whichever you visit.
The Ambience
Usually hectic and buzzing. Toby Carveries are very popular. To calm you down though is traditional but slightly quirky décor (the hundreds of framed photos add the quirkiness, ranging from stills from movies and TV series to old goldrushers in their dungarees to some very odd people and animals indeed) and dim...
