Disadvantages: a weak storyline

...I had never played any of the Tomb Raiders, well in all honesty I tried Tomb Raider 3 but I just didn't like it. So when my other half bought an XBOX 360 that came with Tomb Raider: Legend I thought that I'd give it a go. I fell in love with it. Now, I myself an more a PlayStation person and found out that they were remaking the original Tomb Raider I actually got a little excited! All because I have enjoyed Legend so much. I got all excited when Anniversary was released, I bought my collectors edition and as soon as I got home, the game was in my PS2 and I had started Tomb Raider: Anniversary. Advantages: Excellent game with great gameplay, graphics and sound

...Tomb Raider Anniversary is released by Eidos after the successful running of Tomb Raider Legend.I have played these games and personally, my experience was great.Indeed the Tomb Raider Annversary is a great game with immersive gameplay, extraordinary graphics and good stroyline. ...I was a big fan of the first Tomb Raider on the PS 1, in fact it was my first game that I owned. All those years ago I remember sitting in my room, heart thumping and the sound of the T-Rex's foot steps approaching, gazing in awe at the site of the Collisuem level and nearly smashing my controller to pieces as I yet again fell down a massive drop due to a dodgy camera angle. And now, over a decade later, when graphics are sharp and colours deep and detailed they have remade the game that defined what gaming is all about. Risky? Some people thought so, but not me, why would it be? Its a tried and tested formula only now our busty heroine has been pixelated (rather than looking like shes got a pair of traffic cones attached to her chest) and been given a playground more lush and colorful than Lawrence Llewyn Bowens wardrobe. ...ok so never having played any tomb raider games before because they wasnt my style of play i was very cautious to buying this game but after a visit to my cousin who is a big fan of tomb raider and has always tried to get me to play he showed me that this wasnt like a typical tomb raider game, it seemed more puzzles than fighting so i gave it a go and i loved it. I was right this wasnt a typical tomb raider because there is hardly any fighting in it at all and yet they still make the game challenging through puzzles and strategy of moving through the rooms, this had a prince of persia feel to it as lara did seemingly impossible jumps and swinging along the wall with her grapple hook. The game is quite long for a late ps2 game i have found that the games are getting shorter and shorter so its hard to really eenjoy a game but this one... Read review

...Tomb Raider Anniversary... ... The first Tomb Raider released 11 nearing 12 years ago. The first game had us all addicted. We enjoyed the scenes, we enjoyed that we could all have our roles, we enjoyed the Music... Ah the music! Step out, the camera angle changes, and a burst of tinkly gorgeous music that makes you feel enchanted... absolutely BREATHTAKING... Anniversary. Again, a gorgeous game. They can hardly say they were celebrating 10 years: I mean, they actually, accidentally, released it on the 11th year! Bless. You have to compare it to the original Tomb Raider. The first Tomb Raider had everything, this Tomb Raider (TR: Anniversary) has most things. It gives you the camera angles, it gives you 'some' music, occasionally very simular - but the graphics are no longer 'square'. I don't know how many more polygons... Read review

...Backtrack to 1997, and Core Design found themselves with bit of problem concerning their action/adventure sequel Tomb Raider 2. Usually, a sequel can improve upon its predecessor as in the intervening time lessons can be learnt; flaws can be ironed out, gameplay tweaked and expanded, and needless problems eradicated – it’s how things work in the game industry you see… But the original Tomb Raider didn’t have any problems. Well, nothing substantial enough to go into here anyway, but the prospect of improving such a clever, innovative and mammoth title must have caused many a headache in Core’s development house at that time. ...I have been a fan of Tomb Raider ever since Lara Croft made her first debut in 'Tomb Raider: Featuring Lara Croft', but that was 10 years ago. 6 games later, Lara returns in her new adventure: Tomb Raider: Legend. Tomb Raider: Legend takes a new approach on Tomb Raider, and was developed by Crystal Dynamics (Best known for the Legacy of Kain series.) This is quite a major difference as all other Tomb Raider games were developed by Core Design, which Eidos decided to ditch after their last unsucessful Tomb Raider game 'Angel of Darkness.' Unfortunately, I believe that Crystal Dynamics did not fully understand Tomb Raider, and the spark and beauty of the old games dissapeared within this game. I cannot fault Crystal Dynamics on their graphics, they are beautiful and really add atmopshere to the game. This is specifically shown... Read review

...The Tomb Raider chronicle Its that time again, the middle of November, TOMB RAIDER MONTH. This time of year we have come to expect a release of the Tomb Raider series, but are they actually improving on it? Tomb Raider 1was originally, and in all cases an excellent game, everyone owned a copy it came out on all consoles, then Tomb Raider 2 came out. This was a better game, different story, new moves and better graphics. Lara now becomes very well known for here assets Then it all went wrong As Eidos began to cash in more and more on lara Tomb Raider 3 came out, which ran the franchise very thin. The usual Lara, somehow jumping about the planet at differing locations, and not doing any Tomb Raiding in the whole game, as the title may suggest. ...I'll put it to you straight. Angel of Darkness is worse than any of the previous Tomb Raider games. Almost all aspects of this game can, at best, be described as appalling. I'll start with the plot. Lara Croft, adventurer, has been framed for the murder of her mentor Werner Von Croy. In an effort to clear her name, she journeys to places such as the Louvre museum in Paris, and then naturally, a bio research station in Prague. I actually think it sounds better when you describe it like that. Why on Earth didn't they stick with the tried and tested formula of say, raiding tombs? Whatever happened to the quest for an artefact? I used to like that. Call me old fashioned, but when I sit down to watch an episode of Bargain Hunt, I don't expect to see David Dickinson in a race against time to clear his name of tax evasion. I really... Read review

However can the original allow for further improvements for this well known series?
