great hotel ... deserves a much better rating
Review of Quality Hotel, Newcastle-upon-Tyne by
martinkearns987
Advantages: great prices ... offers always on ... great (well cooked) food
Disadvantages: noisy at new year and christmas i have heard ... (what do you expect)
...i thought this hotel was fantastic in my personal experience ...
i travelled from shrewsbury ... up to newcastle to watch the famous newcastle united fc with some family members ...
i was rather pleasantly suprised when i found myself at the hotel ... only minutes away from the station ... this was very pleasing ...
the hotel was very cheap ... i didn't pay but we got a very good deal ... it worked out to about £13 per person ... per night ... as we only stayed for one night ...
the hotel was fantastic quality as the name sugests and deserves much more than 2 star ... i'd personally rate it at 3/4 ... 4 at a push maybe with a slight redecoration and some younger, sexier staff ... :P ...
the rooms were very pleasant ... spacious and were basicly furnished with iron ... ironing board ... TV ... Sky via payment ... same for a games...

Good budget comfort
Review of Premier Travel Inn Newcastle - Airport (South), Newcastle-upon-Tyne by
blackpuddinonnabike
Advantages: Location; Price; Friendly; Comfortable
Disadvantages: Breakfast; No Papers
...When it comes to 'budget' hotels you know exactly what you want. A comfortable bed in a clean room in which to put your head on the pillow for a night. Anything else is really an added extra.
Being from Newcaslte originally, but living in Edinburgh, I travel down fairly regularly and find that staying outside the city makes it easier (and quicker) to get to. And when I'm only down for a night, with a friend, to go to a football match... Well you don\'t really need anything fancy do you?
We booked our night in the Premier Travel Inn because it's near the airport and so has a good road link to drive to it, and because it is handily located just across the road from a Metro station making it easy to get to the city centre.
Booking online I selected a twin room, with two full breakfasts, coming in at a grand total of £75.
The hotel...

A good hotel in a great location
Review of Jurys Inn Newcastle, Newcastle-upon-Tyne by
gem686
Advantages: Great location, cheap, new and modern
Disadvantages: No free parking
...I booked this hotel because I thought it was a bargain at £40 for a triple room, which was cheaper than us getting a taxi home! The location of the hotel is great, it is just a few mins walk from the train station, it is opposite the centre for life and about 2 mins from the metro radio arena. It is also just a few mins to bars and restaurants.
There is no parking at the hotel but there is Times Square car park across the road where you can park for £9 per 24 hours. You can drive to right to the entrance of the hotel, for dropping off picking up and there always seemed to be taxis outside.
The entrance of the hotel is in a courtyard type area with the hotel at one end and offices and apartments at the other. Our room overlooked this area which I was very pleased about as there is a busy road on one side and a street of bars on the other...

A Village Gem
Review of Ryton Park Country House Hotel, Newcastle-upon-Tyne by
eandemam
Advantages: A personal touch goes a long way
Disadvantages: May be too out of the way for some
...miles away from the hustle and bustle, so it is ideal for a relaxing break. There is a small free car park, but I would imagine high season this would fill up quickly so you would have to park on the adjoining road. 10 minutes walk or 2 minutes in the car is the local golf club which accepts players who are not members.
The main business is the intimate 18 bedroom hotel, which are all non smoking since July last year, followed by functions, followed by people visiting to enjoy a meal. Check in is from 2pm, and the bedrooms in the hotel are tastefully decorated, but not in a minimalist modern style, this is much more homely. There is either a bath or a shower in each room, so it may be worth stipulating which one you want when you book. There is tea/coffee making facilities and satellite TV with limited channels.
Guests will find themselves...

All 92 league football grounds!!!!
Review of footballgroundguide.co.uk by
beanie8844
Advantages: very detailed, up to date information and pictures
Disadvantages: none really
...The website footballgroundguide.co.uk is the perfect site for an away fan that is travelling to a game at a stadium they have never visited before. The website is in its ninth year of existence and was created by a person who has visited all 92 league grounds and most on more than one occasion! Fact! The site has an in-depth analysis of all grounds from the premier league right down to league 2.
Like the creator of the site I have been to many grounds in my time as a supporter of Millwall football club and have used this site myself on many occasions before travelling to away matches.
Each team has the following sections dedicated to them:
Team Overview
A look at the team's vital information, has some very interesting stats. Here is an example from Newcastle United.
Ground Name: St.James' Park
Capacity: 52,327 (all seated...

Smooth landings
Review of Premier Travel Inn Newcastle - Airport, Newcastle-upon-Tyne by
andyk910
Advantages: Great price, comfortable, good food, family friendly
Disadvantages: None
...were reasonable, too.
**Arrival**
Check-in as standard is 3pm and check-out 12 noon. The process was quite smooth. I have found it advantageous with this chain and others to print off a copy of my booking confirmation and take it with me.
I had pre-booked breakfast and so I was expected to pay for the room for one night and for breakfast the following morning on arrival. Everything else is on a pay-as-you-go basis.
**What else do they offer you?**
There are meeting rooms available, but that is about it.
**What is nearby?**
The clue is certainly in the name of the hotel: Premier Travel Inn Newcastle International Airport tells you what you need to know - it is 500 yards from the arrivals door at the airport.
There is also a Newcastle-upon-Tyne Metro station more or less outside the hotel and other transport links as shown here...

Nissan Primera 2.0 Sport
Review of Nissan Primera 2.0 by
PhilipHales
Advantages: Comfortable, safe car to drive with the power when needed.
Disadvantages: None spring to mind
...I purchased my Nissan Primera 2.0 Sport in March, it was 6 months old W plate and had done 3,045 miles. Since then I have covered 11,000 miles averaging 38.5 mpg at a reasonable 70 mph. The car drives and handles very well. We use it at weekends - once a month for a trip to Newcastle-upon-tyne, from Sittingbourne and once a month to Bournemouth. So we do a minimum of 1,500 miles per month. It is comfortable and has enough things to change (seat position for height, rake, steering wheel etc.)when we share driving without it becoming a pain.
All switches etc. are easily reachable. Outlook from the car is good. It is a pleasure to drive. It is my first privately owned car for 20+ years, having had a variety of Vauhalls, odd Ford and Peugeot. Last company car being a Passat, which was the best Co. car I have had. The Primera...

A perfect, quiet weekend away
Review of Newcastle Marriott Hotel Gosforth Park, Newcastle-upon-Tyne by
thecrowe
Advantages: Excellent location, service and facilities
Disadvantages: Quite expensive; hardly a thrill-seeker's paradise
...is finally being put to rest at long last and you'll be hard-pushed to find someone in Newcastle who's crying about it.
Inside the hotel is a wholly different matter; the marble floors of the reception area are elegant and beautifully polished - likewise the dark wood of the fittings. The adjacent lounge is much the same and is a perfect spot for a coffee - or in my case, a beer and two double vodkas - while you wait for your room to be ready. The drinks are expensive here, but that's to be expected - any hotel that sells Remy Martin Louis XIII cognac at £clawyoureyesout.00 per measure is hardly likely to have neon BOGOF signs hanging outside. On the plus side, it's hardly likely to have legions of screeching, staggering chavs clutching bottles of blue WKD either, which is a welcome bonus.
The room itself was bright and airy though a little...
