Reviews of university coventry
Very Nice Facilities, very good library. very expensive
Review of Warwick University by
Gemimathecat
Advantages: Excellent buildings, library, teaching staff
Disadvantages: Location, enclosed campus environment, local resentment of students
...Warwick university has a very nice campus, and one of the best
university libraries I have seen; however its location halfway between Coventry and Leamington Spa means that students living off campus have to travel a lot. Only come here for the courses, the facilities and the teaching not for the nightlife, it is quite apparent that the locals in Coventry are very resentful of students and burglary rate is high. Apart from all that Warwick University does have a very good art centre and language learning facilities which are also available to the public, perhaps over commercialised as a university?...

SKY BLUES
Review of Coventry in General by
Nuttytart_2kuk
Advantages: lots of things to do
Disadvantages: There could be more transport avaliable to get there
...Coventry is a clean and tidy city and probably one of the best cities in the country. I do not live in Coventry, but I live in a town nearby so I go there to do my shopping
Coventry is home to many famous things including the one and only SKY BLUES and famous Lady Codiva who walked through the streets naked. There are lots of shops there including a top of the range shopping centre. There is also Coventry Cathedral which is one of the finest in England and Coventry University, to which many of the midlands clever kids go. In the centre of the city they do have entertainment on somedays, such as a singer or a band and you can sit beside many of the water fountains to cool down on those hot days.
The city is well cared for and home to some of the most famous factories and buildings. They have a wide range of shops, most of which you could...

Coventry university. Sent there, loving it
Review of Coventry University by
gavinos
Advantages: So many
Disadvantages: Lack of sleep
...When you think of Coventry university, you probably think of crap nightlife, "that hole in the midlands" and other demeaning terms. Well, thats what i used to think!!! but after a severe lack of effort and thus an obvious underachievement in my a-level results, i only just got in, but still....i was in....and the story unfolds.
It seems that the rumours and ideas about Coventry are entirely unfounded, and more to the point un-true. Well this is my opinion, but i feel i speak for most of my fellow students and friends. We have a briliant time in our halls of 100, we go out at least 4 times a week, and dont really sleep that much!! We already realise that these are the best times of our lives and, although i hear that most people in most universities have similar opinions, i wouldn't rather be anywhere else! so if your thinking...

Up & coming nightlife
Review of Coventry in General by
CuttingEdge
Advantages: Great mix of people
Disadvantages: Very small city for sight seeing
...As a regular visitor to Coventry and not a resdent I think only people like me are able to really judge the city.
I currently live in Birmigham, which has some of the best clubs in England outside of London because of the lively student community (we have three universities!). So working in Coventry was a little bit tame for me, but over the past twelve months the night life has come alive with some great new clubs and bars opening. The most lively has to be the Diva's at the skydome in the citycentre and jumping jacks near by. Between them they provide a great night out with some improving brilliant resident DJ's.
Coupled with the fact that Coventry seems to have a lot of very cheap pubs to get (slightly) drunk in, the place makes for a lively night out for almost everyone.
I would recommend a night out in Coventry to everyone...

Coventry - depends what for
Review of Coventry University by
isaac43
Advantages: Some subjects the best in the country
Disadvantages: Its not a picturesque place to be
...As with all Universities it really depends what it is you are looking at studying when you get there. I know league tables etc give some impressions but reading real reviews may also help. It is worth noting the only bad review of Coventry so far cannot actually be bothered to check what is written so probably reflects something of the general attitude of the reviewer.
Coventry is not chic or stylish - its set in the centre of the city and you accept it on that basis. The advantages are accessible transport systems, lots of pubs/clubs in stumbling distance and the advantage of being able to get out to the shops between lectures. Some accomodation is excellent with full meals service if required and other accomodation is less good it depends on what you want to pay for.
There are lots of sports and leisure opportunities in the city...

Coventry :Work-a-day City
Review of Coventry in General by
ashford
Advantages: Modern. Excellent road and rail links. Good universities
Disadvantages: Lacking in character.
...Coventry,in the west Midlands,is one of England's great centres of engineering housing tractor manufacturers, aero engine companies, armoured vehicle manufacturers and this industrial city is home to the famous "green cats",Jaguar cars.
Although actually a historic city Coventry now appears as a modern rather work-a-day city bent on earning its living. It was heavily bombed during world war II and much of the city was rebuilt during the early post war years.
Pride of place in Lady Godiva's home city has to be accorded the splendid Cathedral which is a phoenix rising from the ashes. The Belgrade Theatre is another modern building of quality and the University of Coventry in Priory Street is also attractive. On the outskirts of the city is the well respected and highly rated University of Warwick which some observers refer to as "The MIT...

Excellent Union, Loads of Rubbish Sculptures
Review of Warwick University by
stupidgit
Advantages: Good quality degrees, Excellent Union, pleasant campus
Disadvantages: Too commercial, Coventry
...I have been at Warwick for two years now, the academic standards are excellent and a Warwick degree will be highly thought of. However at times it feels like the university is more concerned with its thriving conference work than it is with actual teaching. They waste thousands of pounds on dodgy modern art sculptures to attract executives rather than pay lecturers properly or buy books for the library.
However the social life is wonderful. The Union, the biggest in Europe, despite not being as cheap as some offers excellent entertainment and services to its members.
The campus is pleasant enough, although in your second year you will have to live off. The choice is between Leamington Spa and Coventry. Coventry is not recommended!...

Welcome to- umm- well, Coventry actually.
Review of Coventry University by
dogscoff
Advantages: Well equipped, organised and funded Uni in a great City
Disadvantages: You could proabaly find a more prestigious degree
...Coventry University is quite a large and well organised university, with something in the region of 15,000 students. A great many of these are from abroad, which generates a sizeable proportion of the uni's income.
Student services at Cov are excellent -
All first year students are guaranteed accomodation, be it in one of the many Halls of residence (some on campus, others further away) or in the university managed but privately owned houses. THese are of a varying standard - the freshers often get the scruffier places, especially if you apply late, but if you start looking early enough in the year you'll find some nice houses available, and once you're in one you have first refusal on it the following year. Rent is reasonable and since the places are managed by the uni you don't have to worry about disputes with the landlord.

Good Facilities, but tutoring not up to scratch!
Review of Coventry University by
yatzue
Advantages: Good Library, Resonable Accomodation, ReziNet
Disadvantages: Tutoring, Computing Services
...The good bits; Coventry University has got some very good facilities when compared to other uni's, the library especially! Excellent resource for all kinds of books and media, with a 24 hour open access computer room located in the basement for those of you who wish to study/use the internet all night, open 7 days a week! The accomodation is generally quite good, with good sized rooms and resonable support from the accomodation office and housing officers. Most uni accomodation has ReziNet, which is free internet access in students rooms, very useful!
As far as the night life goes around Coventry, there is not a lot for poor students strugling with uni debts, however the Student Union isn't bad, with a large bar and a club on several nights of the week. There are also all the usual chain pubs that you find around cities such as Scream...

Aston Uni
Review of Aston University by
adamdavid
Advantages: small, cosy, well located, in Birmingham
Disadvantages: In Birmingham
...I really, really like Aston university. Graduated from Coventry university three years ago and enjoyed my time there. Aston is a totally different experience. I believe that Aston is one of the smaller universities around and it certainly feels a lot "cosier" (?) than Coventry (which is 3 times bigger). The campus itself is really nice with lots of grass and trees and a lake with a triangular fountain which is really nice in the summer. The Aston campus is an oasis of green in the concrete jungle that is Birmingham city centre (about ten minutes walk away). There are a couple of decent (cheap) bars on campus and with the city centre so close there is always something to do. I'm currently in my second year as an undergraduate at Aston and I'm still having as much fun as when I was a fresher. I would recommend Aston to anyone (if they don...
