Venice Boardwalk is a very unique place
Review of Venice Boardwalk, Los Angeles by migetboy99

Advantages: One of a kind
Disadvantages: Kind of crowded

...Venice Boardwalk is a one of a kind place. No where in the world will you find a stretch this wierd and intersting. Right next to the beach, venice is a great way to spend a few hours or a whole day in Los Angeles. It passes through Muscle Beach as well, which is an outdoor gym. The boardwalk is lined with small shops and tatoo parlours on one side and vendors on the other. Also, there are human statues, comedians, and picture opputunities. The parking is a little bit expensive if you take your own car, but the shops and vendors are fairly cheap. If you have never been to Venice Boardwalk, you're really missing out on a special spot!... Venice
Review of Venice (Italy) by paulhodson

Advantages: Historic and unique architecture and atmosphere
Disadvantages: expensive

...I visited Venice last November to ask my girlfriend to marry me. The city is an excellent location for a romantic break. It seems that every building is historic - everywhere there are small squares that appear unchanged for centuries. November is in the low period, so the city is not overrun with tourists, unlike the summer months. It can also become rather smelly during the summer. A ride in a gondola is a must for a romantic break - but be prepared to pay up to £40 per hour. Allow an hour for the ferry journey from the airport to Venice itself - unless you can afford a more expensive water taxi. A great place to wander, and spend money on stylish clothes!... Read review

Very inviting and relaxing
Review of Venice Airport (VCE) by Mufasa_1

Advantages: Very inviting and clean
Disadvantages: Busy

...My experience at Venice airport was very smooth, the buses to and from the terminals were excellent, and there was absolutely no hassle whatsoever. The baggage reclaim and passport control was smooth and when we left, we were greeted by fountains and flowers that were very pleasing to the eye, unmatched by other airports i have been to. Outside the airport, taxis were easily available as well as other forms of transport and within five minutes of leaving the airport, the landscape was that of traditional italian countryside with canals and rustic barns every mile or so. Venice itself was a very nice place with bagfuls of character and some charming squares and pizzerias that will stay with me for a long time. The trip was made complete by having no stress at all and i thank Venice airport for that and i would thoroughly reccomend... Read review

Venice
Review of Venice (Italy) by Faitho

Advantages: Pretty, good shopping, romantic, lots to see,...
Disadvantages: Some dodgey areas, can get smelly,

...I visited Venice a few years ago as part of a school trip and thought it was a lovely place. It was very romantic and pretty and full of History. I had been told by lots of people that it would be smelly and dirty, but I didn't think it was (I did go in October though, it probably is less pleasant in the summer). There were lots of nice clothes shops around and plenty of craft shops too. There was also a street of market stalls selling lots of lovely gifts and nicknaks. I would recomend that you take a travel guide with you so you know where to go and what to look out for. It'll also help if you get lost, which is quite easy to do as all the streets look the same! Some area's of the city are not that nice, but the rest of the city made up for that. I would have loved to stay for longer as there was so much that I hadn't seen. I would... Read review

Venice for luxury
Review of Venice (Italy) by SNINKUM

Advantages: Lots to see.
Disadvantages: Crowded.

...It was when I was expecting my first son that I stayed at the Des Bains in Venice. This hotel was where they filmed "Death in Venice" with Dirk Bogarde (who my sons nicknamed Dick Bogey when I used to read his autobiographies). It is a really sumptuous place with matching beach towels and seats in lemon and white stripes. Huge rooms with high ceilings and an air of luxurious silence. Goodness knows where anyone could find the money to stay there nowadays but even then a man was complaining because he wanted yoghurt for his son for breakfast and they wanted to charge him extra. Of course wherever you want to stay in Venice you can easily visit the popular places by waterbus. This is a novel way to travel and beats cars and roads anyday in my opinion. A very interesting book about Venice is Miss Garnet's Angel by Salley Vickers... Read review

beautiful
Review of Venice (Italy) by annabelle1

Advantages: the beauty
Disadvantages: it might take some time getting around the city

...I always thought of Venice as such a beautiful place. You can travel for most of the day on water by a gondala and it is especially good for couples because it is such a romantic place. If you do go to Italy this is a must because of its beauty. There are very many famous buildings that you will see on a guided tour by boat and also the film "Only You" was shot there and just by watching that film you will want to go. trust me and go there because it is one of the most beautiful cities in the worls.... Venice Carnival
Review of Venice (Italy) by bostonianbeer

Advantages: Wonderful colour, sights and sounds.
Disadvantages: Never known one.

...The place to fall in love with and the place to be with the one you love. Venice is my personal favourite holiday visit. If I could I would live there. We have visited Venice for the past seven years and we go again in March 08. We stay at the Loccanda Remidio Columbina just at the back of St. Mark's Square and on the canal with the Bridge of Sighs. Six of us in 2004 visited the Venice Carnival and dressed for the occasion. The "Theme" was "The Silk Road." It was in Feb 2004 and we had snow, and rain, but the atmosphere was great. The costumes wonderful and full of imagination, (they had to be to keep warm.) People promenade every afternoon in St. Mark's Square then onto the stage and winners are chosen, how and who votes we never found out. People come from all over the world to wear their costumes and to see and be seen, just have... Read review

Off the track in Venice
Review of Al Marca, Venice by bostonianbeer

Advantages: Known by few other than locals.
Disadvantages: I am telling you.

...We have travelled to Venice every year in or around the end of March for the past 7 years and each time we go we are amazed that we find something new to see visit or experience each time. This year we came across the Al Marca bar. Catch the vaporetti along the Grand Canal and get off at the Mercato di Rialto stop. You could get off at the Rialto Bridge stop and walk over the bridge and into the square but the Mercato stop leads you directly into the square. Any time during the day there are people at the bar milling about with a coffee, la umbro, (a small wine) or a beer. As it is next to the Court of Justice it is busy, busy, busy but take time out of your day to sit on the bench and soak up Venice watch the Venetian's going about their business away from St. Mark's and the bustle of the day trippers. Call back in the evening... Read review

Beyond breathtaking
Review of Venice (Italy) by Biondino

Advantages: Completely unique, and packed to the rafters withamazing stuff to see
Disadvantages: Not great for the young, and overrun with tourists during peak season

...Venice has its faults, which others on Ciao have highlighted, but it remains a completely unique city and experience, which no traveller wishing to see the world's most impressive places should ever miss. As a thriving city, Venice's heyday is long gone. As possibly the most powerful republic in the world 500 years ago, the foundations of Venice's astonishing wealth of fabulous art and unsurpssed architecture were already in place from centuries of trading, powermongering and innovating. The miracle of Venice is that so much of it is still there to see - the fact that it was protected by a pact between all sides from the bombardments of the Second World War means there are so many more unspoiled treasures to discover. Modern day Venice is absolutely packed to the rafters with tourists, and it's advisable to visit out of season... Read review

VENICE ROMANTIC CITY
Review of Venice (Italy) by poshtroika

Advantages: LOVERS
Disadvantages: Can not go more often.

...Arrived at Venice Marco Polo Airport last Wednesday 12th March 16:30. Took second cheapest option to get to Venice Island, 3 Euros on the express Blue Coach to Piazza Roma at the end of the Grand Canal. Then bought a 72 Hour Ticket for 31 Euros, the 72 hours begins when you first validate so ideal for us returning on Sat. The ticket covers all your Vaperreto trips even out to the smaller islands Murano, Burano and Torchelli. Also if you use City Bus number 5, back to the Airport at the end. Great value when a single ticket on the Grand Canal is 6 Euros. That covers the boring part. Now my Venice Experience. I boarded Vaperreto Number 1, sat down and then looked into her eyes. Its at times like these that thoughts run thru your mind , what will I ever do when I no longer have her. There in front of me is this beauty that stirs my... Read review
