...I decided to fly Virgin Airlines after being dissatisfied with previous airlines. The air hostesses were good and friendly, but they were not the "Award Winning Sevice" I was expecting. They forgot to clean my table in the morning and did not do much to make my flight any better. The food was excellent, something that other airlines are slack at. The entertainment was brilliant, 20 channels to choose from and 12 movies. There was also music to listen to, and games to play. It was an enjoyable flight, or at least as enjoyable as a plane flight can get!... Read review

...I flew with Virgin to the US earlier this year and I can quite honestly say they were the best airline I have ever flown with.It may have cost me a few extra pounds more than flying with an airline like EasyJet or Britannia but it is well worth it. The only thing that was similar to other airlines was the lack of leg space, but apart from that,Virgin was a cut above the rest. Its just the little things like complementary drinks,your own tv screen in the back of the chair infornt of you with a range of movies and video games and the little flight bag you get with a toothbrush, headphones and stripey socks. Most airlines such as Monach charge for headphones and alike, but Virgin supply these little things for free just to make your journey that little bit easier. ...Last summer I flew with Virgin Sun from Gatwick to Fuerteventura for £145. Having not known anyone who had flown with them before I was not sure what to expect. From the moment I checked in to the time I arrived at the airport, the Virgin staff were excellent. They were courteous, friendly and helpful. On board, all members of the crew were happy and sometimes cracking jokes over the tannoy. If I have the chance again to fly with Virgin Sun I will definitely go, even if I had to pay slightly more than another airline.... Read review

Advantages: Fabalous flying experience - these people are not Virgin at giving people a great flying experience! (Sorry about the pun, I couldn't help myself!)
Disadvantages: Virgin do not yet have a very big choice of destinations to choose from, but they are always expanding!

...If you have to fly somewhere and Virgin Atlantic provide flights there then I highly recommend you fly with them. But why I hear you ask, well if excellent customer service and amenities even in the cheapest seats are what you are looking for, then Virgin is the way to go. I allways find Virgin products and services seem to be a cut above the rest and their airline is no exception! I was hugely impressed with the service that I have received on my Virgin Atlantic flight, both at the airport and in the air. The staff were very helpfull and attentive, they also looked very very smart unlike some other airlines I know (That may be antoher op!). Also, every seat on my transatlantic flight from Heathrow had their own viewing screen in the seat in front of them, so there's no need to try to get a view of the main screen 10 rows ahead... Advantages: Treat Like A Person

...I am disabled and have to use a wheelchair so as you can imagine all travel becomes a nightmare unless well planed in advance. From the minute I booked with Virgin we were treat like royality. After booking we received a detailed form to fill in about our disabilities ( myself and my nephew) what requirements we needed and even if we wanted them to arrange for hire of any equipment needed in the villa we had booked. Virgins service to the disabled is second to none and even though they are slightly dearer than other airlines, its worth thinking about any future travel with them as you get treated like A PERSON and not a thing. I certainly won't be travelling with other airlines in the future unless they improve their services towards the disabled.... Read review

...Overall an excellent airline to fly with and therefore not many disadvantages. Can book online which is a great help and can also bag a good deal at the right time of the year and on the internet. The convenience of booking on the internet and checking availibility is great so you do not rely on anyone to look the flight times up for you especially if you are not entirely sure where and when you want to go. Leg Room was good, inflight entertainment was brilliant considering we were in economy class. Huge choice of what to watch and not enough time. Personal screen were brilliant. They also provide a virgin bag with ear plugs and tootbrushes wich is useful. The service was good, not as corteous as the asian airlines but adequate as long as you have no trouble. The flexibility without the penalty of a high price is also useful... Read review

Disadvantages: Virgin should be the nations favourite

...This was our first flight with Virgin back on the 03 August from Bridgetown in Barbados back to Gatwick. I had wanted to travel with Virgin before, but have always had problems with getting seats at the cheaper fares, as I am always inflexible with dates of travel. Now that I have flown with them I can see why this airline is so popular and why I have problems booking with them!. We hadn’t booked with Virgin, but due to a problem with BWIA aircraft that day we were booked back with Virgin. Therefore I have had to look at their web site to give you an idea of prices. London to Bridgetown will be over £2800 return or £2200 single plus airport taxes for Upper class. Upper class is Virgins name for Business class and the prices compare well with British Airways as they charge over £2900 return or £2452 one way for the same routing. I have... Read review

...What a ridiculous waste of money. Upon a recent visit to my local Virgin Megastore (Taunton), I was appalled at the prices they were charging for albums – a normal top 40 album was £14, where as next door (in Sainsbury’s) they were only £9.99 for the same albums! How on earth Virgin can justify these high prices I don’t know – could it be to finance that ever fledging airline, Virgin Atlantic? Aside from the price however, most of the store seems OK, and sells more or less anything home entertainment oriented, for example DVDs, Videos, Sheet Music, Magazines, Mobile Phones and of course CDs. In a recent publicity stunt for both Virgin and the band involved, our local store held a ‘gig’, where the band ASH came and played. ...have regional agreements which mean that you can sometimes earn and redeem miles on additional carriers that are not in the alliance. With United, you can earn miles on US Airways, BWIA, Aeromar, Air Dolomiti, Aloha Airlines, Cayman Airways, Delta Airlines, Emirates, and select flights with Continental Connection, Great Lakes Airlines and Virgin Blue. Miles can add up very quickly. For example, I took out the United Airlines Mileage Plus Gold Card and earned an additional 6000 miles last year, recommended 3 friends to the scheme and earned 15000 miles, and 1 round trip economy to the USA gave me 8000 miles. That would have been enough to earn me a free trip with bmi british midland to Europe. ...I have flown to USA several times and have used many airlines including British Air, American Air and United Airlines. Having been fairly impressed with the standard I had no reason to try other airlines. However, for one trip, I had to use Virgin as they were the only airline with tickets. The Aeroplane I flew in a brand new 757 called Tinker Belle. It was very clean, well decorated but perhaps a little small. The seats were comfortable but close together and therefore taller people will have a little discomfort. There is adequate standing areas allowing you to stretch your legs occasionally.
