- The later the wedding the less food you will need to supply for your guests.
- Choose any day but Saturday.
- Choose an out of season month, November - April.

A Champagne Wedding on an Orange Juice Budget!
Review of Member Advice on Wedding Planning by
lauricha
Advantages: The best day of your life!
Disadvantages: Will be stressful!
...to make guests happy, most will be content chatting, dancing and having a good time!
LAST MINUTE THINGS
Well, you have all the main things sorted. By now you'll probably be about 1 or 2 months away from the actual date, so here are some things to remember…
Make sure your dress fits, go for all the fittings and try the whole outfit on together, including hair and makeup
Book your accommodation for the wedding night and honeymoon, including all/any vaccinations. Check your passports will be in date!
Get the gifts for the ushers and bridesmaids, as well as parents
Run through the plan of the day with the attendants so everyone knows what they're doing
Make sure all speeches are being prepared
Arrange hen and stag nights, preferably not the night before the wedding, we...

A traditional wedding - non traditional costs!
Review of Member Advice on Wedding Planning by
Moonstorm
Advantages: Depending on what - fun and more personal & getting to shop more!
Disadvantages: Find the cheaper bargains, searching the web takes time, relying on smaller companies or online shops (Ebay)
...for a gathering afterwards.
They didn’t book food or a disco and my mum bought my sisters dress which got him free groom suit hire.
They still spent £2500.
So considering our wedding is a 300 seated church wedding, followed by a country club and hotel dinner for 90 with co-ordinator, personal waiting service and maximum of 150 joining us for a evening celebration including the disco, room hire, buffet and bar I consider £6500 to be bl**dy cheap considering that is the round figure for everything else included from dresses to hair and makeup, flowers etc!!
When planning a wedding you need both your partners ideas as well as your own.
In this modern day of age many men feel they enjoy helping and contributing toward wedding plans.
My man arranged the wedding cake and flowers before I could grab the yellow pages.
My sisters, now, husband...

A Harrogate Wedding in Banff
Review of Member Advice on Wedding Planning by
nicolasreed
Advantages: I now have a lovely husband.
Disadvantages: Way to stressful.
...had a very calming affect on me.
So onwards and upwards I head up to my two floor suite to get dresses along with my two sisters (the bridesmaids) and the mother of the bride. I have decided having a mother is a wonderful thing because she’s so stressed you forget about your nerves.
The wedding planner arrived a good time before the wedding with the flowers and then went on to organise the guest and make sure everything was running smoothly. I was so happy to see an outsider who could get things moving along.

We booked a band to play during the ceremony. They were a trio of a pianist, violinist and cellist. Now the shame of it was that we were going to have them for the drinks after the ceremony but weren’t sure they were worth the extra cost so didn’t book the extra time.
Biggest mistake of the day...

With this website I thee wed....
Review of hitched.co.uk (Wedding Planning Site) by
tamsin23
Advantages: Lots of information, great forums
Disadvantages: Far too addictive, poor range in shop
...I’m getting married in the morning… lalalala. Well actually, its 223 days, but who’s counting? If you’re a terrible perfectionist like me, or just a little worried about schedules and planning… oh, and you’re planning a wedding…. then read on, this op is definitely for you!
My wedding is planned for 28th August 2004. When we booked it, 2004 seemed like so far away and now, with the new year suddenly landing in my lap, reality is starting to hit me. Everything is booked and arranged, or so I think. I buy countless wedding planning magazines and I have a shelf full of “Bridget Jones does Nuptials” style diaries in my spare room. No matter how much I read, nothing beats my godsend ‘bored-Sunday-night-web-surfing’ find called www.hitched.co.uk.
So what is Hitched?
Hitched is a website offering advice, forums and shopping...

GETTING READY FOR WEDDED STRESS
Review of Member Advice on Wedding Planning by
frannie
Advantages: YOU GET EXACTLY WHAT YOU WANT,RIGHT DOWN TO THE LAST DETAIL
Disadvantages: THE STRESS LEVELS SEND YOU THROUGH THE ROOF
...to us.
----------------------------------------
CHOIR (CHURCH WEDDINGS
If you know what the choir is like at your chosen venue, you may well want to book their services. If your family is anything like mine, nobody, except the priest sings so a choir may fill the gap. Cost will probably vary from choir to choir, but again, our fee was just a donation to the choir at the church – apparently, any money that they are given for doing such things pays for new sheet music for the church.
-----------------------------------------
THE DRESS!
Probably the most important thing on any brides shopping list. Here, the choices are limitless. These days, it doesn’t matter whether you’re going for a civil ceremony or a church do; you can wear what you like (within reason...

Wedding on a budget
Review of Member Advice on Wedding Planning by
superstar1212
Advantages: You don't have to take out a loan to pay for it.
Disadvantages: You will have to down scale - do you really need 11 bridesmaids??
...As a few of you may be aware I am due to get married on the 1st September. So I thought I would be nice to write a review on how to plan a wedding on a budget! We are paying for the wedding ourselves as parents aren’t able to help. We decided to keep it small and personal due to costs. I have tried to include everything in my review and hope that it helps other couples to see you can have a wonderful day without it costing an arm and a leg. Throughout the review I will be quoting prices and at the end I will give a total of the wedding costs so far.
Once I have actually got married I shall do a follow up review on how much everything cost and how our big day went.

As we are working a budget and are only having about 25 guests we decided that our local registry office would be ideal. At a registry office you can...

Wedding Post Mortem
Review of Wedding Post Mortem Report by
Tuxley
Advantages: New way of looking at two very rarely linked topics
Disadvantages: Could offend the squeaumish - if you are -don't read.
...Shared interests (similar taste in books, music, TV and films)
1b Shouting at adverts together
1c Pints at the local
II Love
Time apart
Comments
This bride has wed suddenly, in a manner, consistent with unexpected marriage, related to pregnancy scares. There is a minor degree of waist-thickening, in keeping with settling-down syndrome, but this is probably insufficient to explain marriage alone. It is likely that the bride suffered a number of unsuitable men. I think that this may have contributed, both because of the effect on her general well-being and by reducing ability to say No. Although there are several ex-boyfriends, this number would be consistent with the age of the bride. No whole roasts, sober guests or tissue samples have been retained. No further report will be issued.
To the best of my knowledge, no semen...

Civil Wedding Ceremony in A Hotel (New Pics!!!)
Review of Member Advice on Wedding Planning by
Multtinems
Advantages: All Under One Roof
Disadvantages: None ...... Yet
...... unfortunately not the kind of thing they advertise on the net. I sent an email to The Hotel of our choice. They sent back a wedding brochure within two days. It advised us to contact the registrar in the first instance. Obviously details are going to vary from region to region as it will from Hotel to Hotel but here are some of our details.
Registrar:
≈≈≈≈≈≈≈
The registrar is available seven days a week, including Bank Holidays, with the times being from 8.00am - 4.00pm. You can make arrangements up to 24 months in advance, be wary that popular dates can get booked up years in advance. So I made the call. Look up your local number in Yellow Pages or a phone directory; look for 'Registrars of Births, Deaths & Marriages.'
I spoke to Gill our registrar, straight away. We found Saturdays were busy up...

Wedding Bells -- I Just Can't See Them!
Review of Member Advice on Wedding Photographers by
UKRushbrook
Advantages: Memories worth seeing over and over!
Disadvantages: hearing "Just a few more please!"
...looking the right way, all smiling at the same time, stop the pageboy from punching the flowergirl, make sure nobody blinks for at least 4000th of a second, and ensure that the waiting guests are kept waiting for an interminably long time while he takes roll after roll of the same shots. Whew! Glad that is over.
Off we go on our honeymoon with the assurance that the photos should be ready for viewing in just a couple of weeks for us to select, etc. Well, to make a real looooooooooooong story much shorter - we have now been married about 17 years and we are STILL WAITING to see any of the wedding shots! The man was a professional but didn't actually have any film loaded in the camera. To this day, I have to wonder whether he was drunk or something!
Needless to say, I am still not a happy camper over the situation, so hopefully here...
