Advantages: Stylish, comfortable, modern Disadvantages: Not terribly good value
...Just when you thought it was safe to read my account again – it’s another hotel opinion!!
I’ve been to Birmingham a couple of times over the last year, and my travel agent has consistently managed to land me in some seriously dodgy accommodation. This time, I therefore decided to make the arrangements myself – and eventually made a booking in the recently opened City Inn. Here’s what I thought:
LOCATION
The City Inn is one of a cluster of new hotels that has sprung up within the vicinity of Brindley Place, to the West of the city centre. Advantages: Nice part of the country Disadvantages: Not worth the money
...Introduction:
A very disappointing stay at this hotel, which did not deliver what it, promised on many levels. We travelled to it for a one-night stay as we fancied a quick trip away to a new part of the country. The Location and Buildings:
Hoops is located on the A39 main road between Bideford and Bude. It is about 5 miles from the tourist trap of Clovelly and about 20 miles from the surfing beaches of Bude or North Devon...

THE CONCEPT
Whitbread Travel Inns were first set up in the 1990s, in a direct move to open up the hotel accommodation market. Working on the same simple principle as American motels, The Whitbread Group wanted to provide a chain of instantly recognisable hotels, where things were kept simple, functional and cheap. The concept has been a huge success with over 300 Whitbread Travel Inns now in operation and countless competitors such as Travelodge and Premier Lodge coming on to the market. Travel Inns are without a doubt, very consistent...
