Advantages: it's quiet and the views Disadvantages: shop opening time
As we haven't been camping for about 4 years and the youngest had never been we decided she was old enough to take the plunge.
We decided we didn't want to travel too far and only stay 3 nights as we didn't know what she would be like. We guessed that she would love it as once she is outside she doesn't want to come back in.
I trawled the internet looking to book somewhere - most said 'No need to book just come along' Some suggested phoning on the day. We didn't want to do this as we prefer booking with children so we know where we are going.
I came across 'The QuietSite' a campsite in Ullswater which is about one hour 30 mins drive away from us -perfect. It had its own website so I checked it out. It seemed nice, it was family run had a shop, bar and adventure playground. Great although the bar wasn't important to us as we ...
Advantages: Breathtaking walks and spectacular scenery Disadvantages: Can be a little tricky underfoot

* WHAT IS IT..?
Aira Force is a Waterfall with a great many tranquil walks surrounding the beautiful Fall.
It has been a beauty spot since 1906 and is ...
Advantages: Beautiful countryside, activities for every age, wonderful walking, interesting wildlife Disadvantages: None!
the exciting site of a Red Breasted Merganser (one funky duck!). A special treat for those on the lake walk is the occasional sighting of red squirrels in one of their last English strongholds.
Practicalities
Accomodation ? several campsites, can be found on UK campsite as I haven?t stayed at them all! Hotel accommodation in Sharrow Bay (very expensive), Howtown Hotel and several bed and breakfasts along western shore, also multiple holiday cottages available to rent.
I?m afraid I cannot help in terms of how to get there ? best to consult any of the many travel guides etc.
There are plenty of options for accommodation, with several campsites (type Ullswater campsites into google and UK campsites brings up a very good list) and hotels in Sharrow Bay (for those who like luxury!), Howtown, Patterdale and in a couple of other places along ...
