…and what makes you think and duck & foie gras is that far removed from heart-attach in a bun? But no, I do take your point. Living museums should be able to use on-site produced food to greater effect, not just in the UK (Holland’s national outdoor museum fares not much better than ours). Back to your subject though…I’m glad your kids liked the haphazardness of it. Museums of this kind ‘work’ better if they’re not over-regimented…to much timetabling and they become theme parks. We booked a holiday with this company as a last minute thing in May of this year. Wow were we impressed! They organised everything from visits to some of the best wine chateaux in the Bordeuax region through to tables at the best restaurants. Everything was summarized in our personal touirng guidebooki and to top it all off we toured around in their open top Porsche. It was our wedding anniversary and a very special way to celebrate it. We would highly recommend Gourmet Touring. Exceedingly professional and great to deal with.

Advantages: Cheap and cheerful, central location secure car parking
Disadvantages: Not far from fire station and police HQ, the sirens!
