Wow the compexities and intricacies that are Rome you sum up in eight lines. This year i wrote a three thousand word essay on the Colosseum alone. busy roads are generic to every major city and i gesticulate crap drivers every day. What about the Colosseum give detail, the coffee shops, Domus Aurea, The Pantheon, Trajans column describe things that are uniquely Roman etc. I think it is a flim flam review at the very least. We visited the Via Appia Antica in the summer of 2007, while touring the Roman Catacombs and the church of Domine Quo Vadis. The area has over 2,000 years of history, and we couldn't believe how few tourists there were to visit this hidden jewel in Rome. Our guide Valentina said that only about one in twenty tourists to Rome makes it out to the Appia Antica during their stay in Rome. Such a pity. We can't recommend it highly enough, especially if you are fortunate enough to have a guided tour. We used When in Rome Tours and were very pleased.
