I think by Milan - which let's face it is supposed to be pretty trendy! - standards, you very much got what you paid for. The only part that I found offputting was the plastic wrapped breakfast and orange coloured dring. The room looked a damnes site cleaner than the Innkeeper's Lodge in which we stayed a couple of weeks ago here! Advantages: I wasn't paying, my room was clean, good breakfasts.
Disadvantages: Lack of facilities, poor customer service.

The smoking issue aside (which I do not relate to personally but can well understand) you seem to have presented a more positive picture than anyone else I know who have passed through this place. I was absolutely shocked that they did this with a big smile in their face and talking about honesty! If you can't trust what they tell you, the hotel can't be trusted IMHO. The problem was that there were several fairs in town, so there was nothing free under 90 euros. by stoerebink
