Well, I booked this hotel with some trepidation as when we had previously been to NY, we had stayed in the big-name hotels but wanted something consisting of more than just a "room". Having decided on a suite hotel, the Affinia Dumont fit nicely into our budget, so off we went-2 adults and 2 children! When we arrived, our room had been upgraded-a nice surprise-and the staff were very attentive and welcoming. The room was really nice-very clean and spacious. We had a small kitchen with an oven,fridge, microwave and kitchenware along with a small supply of essentials-tea/coffee/dishwasher tabs etc.... more

...Be careful of the "Roombar" items in the fridge though-they are not complimentary. The prices for these seemed very expensive. A nice touch was that there was always a bowl of complimentary fresh fruit at Reception along with drinks. This is a well located hotel and we would stay here again.

Advantages: location, breakfast available, free wine in the evenings
Disadvantages: noise, can be expensive at some times of year

There may be a different category for NY as a city itself, but NYC is part of NY State, and therefore is in the correct category. If it were a review of NY as a state and it were in the NYC category, then it would be in the wrong category. As for the review there is much written here about the state itself and much less about the city, so I think it well done. by jenn-of-the-roses

Can I just say that your review is not actually in quite the correct category. New York City has a category of its own, this is a category that is reserved for the rest of New York State. Although posting a review on NYC is technically correct, someone looking for information on NYC would not necessarily look here and a review, however good, is wasted. by Tempus_Fugit
