Review of Tenno-ji, Osaka by oblivionjapan

Say Tennoji and many Osaka residents will role up there nose a little. This is one of the major centres of the city, behind Umeda and Namba, but it is definitely the poor part of town - a large number of homeless people live nearby and the area now called ... Read review

A good escape.
Review of Kirin Plaza Osaka, Osaka by oblivionjapan

Advantages: Nice relaxing cafe bar in a busy area.
Disadvantages: Art gallery is expensive.

Kirin Plaza Osaka is in the Dotombori area - the part of Osaka to eat and get drunk in. It is just off Ebisubashi in the very centre of Dotombori and close to Namba rail stations. It is there simply to promote the image of Kirin beer - one of the major b ... Read review

Not a real Castle but worth a visit.
Review of Osaka Castle (Osaka-jo), Osaka by oblivionjapan

Advantages: A large open space in the centre of Osaka.
Disadvantages: Why not go to Himeji castle or Kyoto?

TRANSPORT: JR Osaka-Loop Osaka-Jo Koen ADMISSION: 600yen (Children Free) HOURS: 9-5pm Osaka castle is a modern reconstruction. It still looks very beautiful from afar but if you want the feel of a genuine wooden castle, with hidey holes and sword mar ... Read review

If you are in Osaka you must go.
Review of Dotombori, Osaka by oblivionjapan

Advantages: Great place to eat, drink and be merry.
Disadvantages: Looks like another grim shopping centre.

Osaka, my home for the last two years, is a city with two centres, North (Umeda) and South (Namba). Both have buisness and entertainment areas but Dotombori located next to Namba is the area most Osaka residents and visitors would associate with eating, ... Read review

Hep - its Hip
Review of Hep 5, Osaka by worm1976

Advantages: Good Location, Lots of stores, the big red Ferris Wheel
Disadvantages: Busy (very busy)

Hep 5 is located in central Osaka, and competes with quite a few other stores and shopping centres for your attention. Immediately nearby you will find Yodabashi Camera building with a wide variety of stores and also Hep Navio, the Hankyu shopping centre ... Read review

You don't mention the Hep Boys, always my major reason for going there (or not!). Those hideous beige uniforms, the random westerners, the weird Welcome to Hep 5 rountines! How many shopping malls have (somewhat) attractive young men parading the floors to help you when you can't find the Snoopy Store?! by matsuge

Review of Umeda Sky Building, Osaka by worm1976

Advantages: View and fake mist
Disadvantages: Glass Elevator

This place has a great view over Osaka, I have a bit of a fear of enclosed heights so the Glass Elevator ride which will take you to the top, had me a bit worried but my friends (I have been a few times) loved it. I have been in the daytime and the eveni ... Read review

A good start - but I am thinking that you could have included a lot more info here. Does it cost anything to go up there? What do those markets offer? What does the cinema cost? What did you think of the individual attractions? x by Delicate_Orchid

The Floating Island Airport
Review of Osaka - Kansai, Japan (KIX) by cyclone88

Advantages: Clean, Modern, Sleek Building
Disadvantages: slight long walks

During the 90's, Osaka needed a new airport because of two reasons. Competition with Tokyo and because the current airport was a threat to the neighborhood area. Infact the old airport was only 200m away from an elementary school. Because Japan is really ... Read review

Advantages: clean and modern
Disadvantages: long walks

Kansai is Japan's nesest international airport, serving the cities of Osaka, Kyoto and Kobe. It's built on reclaimed land in the sea, so it makes for an interesting approach as you get closer and closer to the water. On arrival in the terminal, be prepa ... Read review
