Great experience to see the 'real' Hong Kong
Review of Metropark Hotel, Mongkok, Hong Kong by Arboy1971

Advantages: Local culture
Disadvantages: Beds are 'hard' to get used to

Stayed here in February 2008 before embarking on a cruise to Vietnam and China. If you want to experience a more authentic Hong Kong I would highly recommend it although it does come as a bit of a shock at first. I wouldn't say that this hotel is really i ... Read review

Quick review of Silvermine Beach Hotel, Hong Kong
Review of Silvermine Beach Hotel, Hong Kong by KEITHRW

My wife (Filipina) and I (British) stayed there June 2007. It takes some time to get there from the airport (approx 50 minutes - make sure you get a blue taxi) and immediate access is difficult, especially with suitcases and children. The location is lovely - quite quiet and with good views of the bay. You can get a ferry across to the business district (where it seemed difficult to find anywhere selling even a coffee) which is a pleasant ride. Buffet meals OK but nothing to advise Jamie Oliver about. The hotel itself, at that time, was very scruffy indeed but, of course, it is cheap. Adequate as an overnight/ short stop, but don't make it your holiday destination.

Review of Lan Kwai Fong by 03stsin

Disadvantages: police all the time, 'people selling themselves'

This review needs more adding to it to become a really good review. For a start, how about introducing the place, ie where it is etc. You would also want to compare prices of not only how much it cost to go there, but how expensive it is in generally to eat and drink and club there (like you mention). If you decide to edit this, I'll happily re-read it for you. Chris by MilkyMalky

Great review. Just goes to show that all IBIS Hotels are total toilets, not just the ones in the UK!! by shanediablo
I've stayed in this hotel 4 times, and there is a big difference between the 'standard room' you describe, and the harbour view rooms which are a little more expensive, but worth the extra, as they have more natural light and are slightly larger. I agree about the beds, but my rooms were clean. Wifi access is HK$300 per week. (UK£20.00) by johnalderton
