Luxury at a Kibbutz
Review of Kibbutz Lavi Hotel, Lavi by random8

More a hotel than a kibbutz. In fact, I understand that it was a hotel before being acquired by the kibbutz. We stayed here 2 nights on our tour round Israel and was by far the best place we stayed for accommodation. The only downer was that there ... Read review

Mini-Israel - A fun day out for all the family
Review of Mini Israel by tyardley

Advantages: Easy to get to with a car, wheelchair & buggy accessible
Disadvantages: Gets very busy on festivals and holidays

Mini Israel is a display of hundreds of scaled down models of buildings throughout Israel. It is easy to walk around the site, even pushing wheelchairs/buggies. The main drawback for tourists, is that if children do not recognise the buildings they are ... Read review

Restaurant staff rude, facilities not available
Review of King Solomon Hotel, Netanya by tyardley

Advantages: Family rooms, play area across road, short walk to the beach
Disadvantages: Service terrible, incomplete refurbishment

We arrived at the hotel to find the lobby to be full of rubble and loose wires and the swimming pool and gym were closed. The restaurant staff were rude, both on this occasion and a previous occasion when there was no building work taking place. The foo ... Read review

Haifa: the Beautiful!
Review of Haifa, Israel (HFA) by TheChocolateLady

Advantages: Bahai, Carmelite, Cable-Car and more
Disadvantages: Not terribly touristy (which could be an advantage), not all that much to see

Haifa isn't the best known city in Israel, but it is the third largest city and despite my love for Jerusalem, if I had to choose another place to live, then Haifa would be it. Besides it being built around Mount Carmel, it also touts one of the most bea ... Read review

Yes, the Bahai Temple is genuinely astonishing. Also I think the Carmel Forest Spa deserves a review all to itself. It's wonderful. by danielse

The Dead Sea and me
Review of Dead Sea (Israel) by buzzard_cad

Advantages: An unusual experience, good for the skin
Disadvantages: A long walk, the salty water may sting after a while

~Summary~ The Dead Sea, this was the main reason for my trip to Israel. The healing properties of the waters may be overstated, but you can't go to Israel and not experience mudpacks and swimming in the salty water. The resorts are well equipped with sho ... Read review

Zealots, Romans and stubbed toes
Review of Massada (Israel) by buzzard_cad

Advantages: Hours of exploration if you like archaeology and Jewish history, good views over the Dead Sea
Disadvantages: A cynic will view it as a pile of rubble on a hill

~UPDATED July 19th 2005~ Potentially inflammatory line deleted and other minor amendments. ~Summary~ Massada was a half-day tour during my week stay in Israel. It is on a hill and gives good views of the Dead Sea and surrounding area. It is not reall ... Read review

This is a good review, but the fact that you didn't like the area, which I can understand, came across in it...Go with a friend, spend lots of time, and it can grow on you...I loved it there, but it was not busy, no tours that day...your review was very informative and you made the history about it very interesting. definately worth a visit.....well done...elinor. by elinor.z
Apart from the politically inflammatory suggestion that there were no Jews in Israel between the time of Masada and 1948, I feel that you missed the best part. Masada is a magical experience best enjoyed by getting up in the middle of the night, watching the sound and light show at the base of the hill retelling the history of the place and then climbing to the summit in order to meet the sunrise. It's one of my more glorious memories of Israel. by danielse

Jaffa
Review of Israel: General by traveller55

Disadvantages: unstable political situation

This city is called with different names according to the language used. In the Bible it was called "Joppa", in Hebrew is "Yafo", in Arab is "Jaffa" (and in my review I will use the name "Jaffa"). Jaffa is the oldest city located along the Mediterra ... Read review

Advantages: Wow, I never knew that
